The First Berserker: Khazan

The First Berserker: Khazan

Vis statistikker:
Khazans Memories give you damage stats.
I've seen a lot of people not know this and I don't see almost any posts about this so I wanted to help anyone reading forum stuff. If you go to a blade nexus (any of them) there's a tab that says "Khazans Memories" and honestly it just looks like a lore tab and there isn't a tutorial for it for some reason despite it being the most important thing in the game in my opinion. So it works on each area of the game you've completed giving you vengeance points, so you hover over each area you've completed and if you got all the lore pickups in that level it will give you the points and then you hit whatever button/key it tells you at the bottom for "upgrade stats". These stats are extremely important to the game and why people keep saying everything is tanky. Which to be fair is the games fault for not having a tutorial around this. I really enjoyed my first playthrough despite not knowing about this until my second playthrough. So I also had the tanky bosses and enemies for my first. Hope this helps people who think everything is way too tanky.

You have strange way of agreeing, if I am honest. You are saying that it is both hidden and not hidden at the same time. Perhaps you should choose if you agree or not properly.
Sure, it's not "hidden" in a sense that it's not some internal formula that the game never mentiones, but it really is hidden from players and the game never tells you about until you find it.
Thank you. At least there are some real people here on the forums. He said his friend (after 5 hours on one boss btw ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) "found" it, you can't find something unless it's hidden.
well, ok, we should stop semantical arguments. You can find your car keys on the nightstand when they are not hidden, but simply misplaced. Let's not argue about dictionary definitions of words here.

Sure, I found it. By accident. Many other's did as well. But that's not really an argument. You can put something into 7 levels of menu under some irrelevant heading and still claim that since menu is there, people should be expected to find it.
It's a badly designed menu. At the very least the game should've just told you - go to memories to get stronger. That would pretty much solve everything. They didn't even have to change anything else, just put in a message.
I also found it by complete accident after the final boss lmao. This post isn't even about the menu being bad. It's literally just to help people.
I was simply curious about what's in the menu. I just have a habit of clicking every new button in the game to see what's there and the game just a minute prior mentioned memories to me. That's why I found it. I would've completely dismissed it and didn't look otherwise.

Yea I beat the entire game with no Khazan memory damage with most bosses being under 10 tries. The damage just helps a lot and makes the bosses not feel as tanky. Don't get me wrong I loved the tanky bosses, but the game plays much smoother with normal damage.

I like the game. I think some of the choreography mid game is just really boring in terms of the way stamina damage is handled relative to how some enemies will face tank and completely ignore that momentum concept, which is the whole reason I think the game is interesting.

But the last fights in the game are VERY surprising in terms of how well executed they are. I felt a lot more concepts emerge that rewarded timings I learned throughout the game, instead of the game trying to sucker punch me.

So much of what happened for me was just finding out a boss has a gimmick that can cause you to die. You make an adjustment and it's just a matter of how some enemies just don't play nice with momentum in a really stupid way.

There are folks who insist on using "Deftness", but what Deftness is for is making a perpetual stun combo when you get the right type of deflect. In terms of pursuing the boss, I got a lot more mileage out of moves that even deal damage over time in the Dual Wield tree.

I think the game is good, but I can absolutely see how it will be annoying in terms of how it's designed. And this is with players who are trying to meet it on its terms, a lot of these things don't even come down to combat purely.

On the whole, I like Khazan but it's a bit rough around the edges sometimes. But when it's good, it's really fun.

(What's funny is that, for the topic at hand, I wasn't sure if the buffs were for Khazan or were designed to make the game harder like how Dark Souls 2 has Soul Memory and Bonfire Ascetics. That element is absolutely NOT explained and I just took a risk on it cause I was trying to complete the game. I also ate ♥♥♥♥ for that because when I tried out summoning to get an achievement, I then learned not summoning is an achievement lmfao.)

I just don't get people who are like "It's always player fault if game do something wrong."
I didn't even think about how you could assume maybe the damage is for the enemies lmao. It just isn't explained at all so I could honestly see someone thinking that.

I agree the game should tell you. I don't see how me pointing out that its not impossible for a player to naturally discover it somehow contradicts that.
It sounds like you are blaming people who didn't find it, even if you don't. It's not their fault.

what is their to blame? not finding something isn't i sign of low intelligence by default. the latter part of my first post was directly aimed at real people with real steam profiles I have had real conversations with and can't just name here because I both don't want to and witch hunting is against TOS.

the only people I blame are people who misunderstand something, have the truth pointed out and then they double down instead of rethinking their position based on that new information. there are people who literally don't use active skills and they complain combos don't exist. so you point out that combos do exist and active skills are meant to supplement stamina cost actions and chaining those together can greatly increase your damage output. then they double down and say "nuh uh, I just don't use skills so therefore player damage is low and limited by the stamina" I blame those people.

I did a similar thing, but since it's blacked out down there I didn't even notice it and just flipped through the areas. Then I saw "upgrade stats" which is what Strength and willpower and all 5 stats are called so I assumed it just took me there from that menu. Then checked out character relationship map and read some of it. I don't get why it's blacked out and they call them "stats" just like the things you spend Lacrima on. A different word probably would've made me realize it was a different thing.

LOL. I just saw someone in another thread basically say that very thing and say they would prefer to continue not using some core skills and finish the game without them :D I wanted to give some advice at first, but after the last part chose against it :D

yea, that's the double negative on that menu. The text is grayed out and I only got it by reading the button descriptions. Out of the corner of my eye I saw "increase stats" and went - wait, what's that!?

Damn yea I saw that and just assumed it was a menu transition to your 5 main stats. I'm kinda glad I didn't click it though since the game was a lot of fun that first time I didn't know about it, but it made most people quit the game if they didn't find it which is really sad.

To be honest, I don't think vengence points are the actual reason people quit. Sure, they give you a decent boost, but not investing in them wouldn't make the boss fight 20+ minutes like some people here claimed. People just refuse to respec when their build sucks and also refuse to learn some crucial skills that make some bosses simply trivial.

I'm sure that's some of it, but dude it's base damage, damage multiplier and base stamina damage. that is incredibly important. On my second run I'm through the game twice as fast. That is a huge deal.

Found about them just now as well. Weird it's hidden that way, but I guess people could complain game is ''too easy'' if teached you about them

if you consider going into a single menu option "hidden", then I don't know what to tell you

It says memories. And it looks like simply recap of story so far. There isn't a single tutorial in game about ''Khazan's Memories'' And there is tutorial for almost everything in game. So Yes, I do consider it hidden, behind weird name.
that is why it is an Action "RPG" because of the sidequests. Like I keep saying it is the community that calls games Souls-like or whatever their head wants it to be.
