Fear of Viper is real lol.
Streamer got to him, took 7 tries to beat phase 1. Saw there was a phase 2, alt f4'd lol.

To be fair, he ain't wrong about uniqueness. Among all the fights in the game, there's almost none like Viper.

I'm nearing the end of the game so I haven't beaten everyone yet. But up through Hismar I haven't encountered any fight like Viper, where you beat a boss and basically get a totally different fight right after.

Usually it's phase 1, bring the boss down to some amount of health or take their stamina down, then it's phase 2 where they get some new attacks (if there's a phase 2). Maluca is probably the closest to how different the transition is, but it's all on one health bar and phase 2 comes in pretty early.

Skalpel has that fake-out moment into his 2nd health bar, but the fight remains the same, I don't recall him having any new moves, just now you can't bring his stamina down and his health is draining.

Looking up the bosses, I've got Reese and Ozma left to try, so maybe they'll be like Viper.

Weird to buy a $80 game and drop it just like that, especially knowing the 2nd phase of Viper is the easier of the two. It is literally tagged as a soulslike, and they get mad that they have a challenge in front of them? Some ppl just aren't built for these types of games, I guess.
I freaked the ♥♥♥♥ out the first time Viper transformed. I saw the infographic showing Viper represents 1/5th of all boss deaths, and felt relief when I dropped that first life bar with a pixel left. Then he got back up. I was still rattled the next dozen attempts or so.

Then I realized Viper phase 2 shares many attacks with Yetuga. He's actually easier to dodge than phase 2.

yea not really, but whatever. just seemed weird to have fought a big yeti and two minor variations on the exact same boss, hit viper and go "he's different than anything else, i could go toe to toe with everything else" like that was an expectation to have and implying viper was out of place or unfair or something. But I've reread what you wrote, and i think i assumed a more whiny vibe on first read than i should have. If i'm reading it correctly now you were mostly just observing that he's the first kind of "new" thing you hit that makes you actually have to start learning and figuring things out and "trying", in which case i'd agree, and that's the point of him, and sorry for going all "l2p nub" on you because I assumed you were like the 2nd guy i quoted.

It's all good mayne, I get it.

Basically I was just saying that, plus I think some of his move set is weird. Not too hard, not unfair, just weird.

Yea, I think the second phase is easier too.
