Yeah pretty much. I mean whatever happens in this game needs to create a rampaging demon warrior not a psuedo fulfilled hero who can leave the future to the next generation.
Yeah, it's kind of sad when you think about it... I've played many games in this genre (or similar genres) and right now I cannot think of many positive arcs. Even the positive ones I can think of include negative situations along the way (most recently, Shirley from AI Limit if you go for the true ending)...
