low boss/enemy variety will kill this game
in the previews we have seen the same boss reused twice as a real boss and 3 times as a miniboss. I guarantee reviews will be negative in this department, and enemy/boss variety is the most critical part of a soulslike

Will definitely come back to this thread post-release.
The devs should look into this.

That's how it was in the original game, just like 2-3 enemies per area max and a boss you usually have to refight like 2-3 times, and then you move on to the next area. Obviously that worked back then since hte og was an MMO and this is a different genre, but idk I'm dling the demo rn so I'll see how it feels.

I played the demo and the enemy variety was okay. There is a lot of enemies. After beating Yetuga, I had to stop, scared of spoilers lol. And the game runs so smooth on max settings. With lag spike here and there though.

I have a few issues with the game but enjoying it so far. Items being white lights are hard to see in the snow for me, wish they could have a blue hue or something. Refighting the same mini bosses is a bit annoying and I hope the game does not rely on that too much. I am not a fan of the stats getting tiny micro upgrades. Strength going from 110 to 113 with a new identical looking weapon or a new helmet that has 1 extra defence point to my current one bringing my defence from 411 to 412 feels really redundant. It almost gives it a diablo loot table kinda feel. I would rather far less gear but more impactful upgrades instead. Same with levelling up, I would rather level up less often but have it more impactful. Raising my stamina by .5 percent? equipment load by 0.68 percent or whatever? They feel miniscule. Maybe I just need to give it more time and adjust more to it. Combat feels mostly great though imo. Love the art style too. Hoping it opens up a bit more too. Not expecting Elden Ring levels of open now (nor would I want that tbh) but more branching paths like dark souls 1 style would be awesome.

Exactly. That was my feeling while trying the demo. It will be repetitive without variety. I was really hyped for this game, but the demo gave the opposite feelings which is definetly not God of War, but rather a souls like crap which majority likes :)

i mean god of war is not a good example of enemy variety, it took them all the way till ragnorok before the enemy/boss variety was in a good place imo. Plys First Berserker isnt really a soulslike, its very easy to spam abilities and win, theres not much challenge. The devs even said that it starts out souls-lite but turns more character action towards the middle and end

Am I missing something here? Up to the snow giant, I have zero ability learned. I am still stuck at it, that thing seems difficult to kill just to hit it with normal attack. So when do I start earning abilities, after that boss??

open your skill tree in the menu, theres a ton of trees. the snow boss has the exact same moveset as the mini boss trolls plus a grab and a rock throw, so its not difficult at all.

There's nothing to be done about it now. New enemy takes a lot of work, and a new boss a helluva lot more work. Art, modeling, animation, texturing, balancing, game design, encounter design etc. Not to mention you probably wanna add some specifically created area for the new boss so thats again more work

Nothing is gonna change now so close to launch
