Questions about set and item crafting.
1)If I level up item by feeding high level items to it does it scale the substats also or do I need to change them for item level to take effect?

2)Can I somehow see substat ranges in game?

3)Am I supposed in early to mid game make one set and then make that set again after 30 item levels or just level up the individual pieces as I go.

Bonus specific question:
a) I am looking the fallen set So I would need str 30 to get agility A. I am playing spearbuild. Is it worth to invest that much into str in early - middle game or should I just keep agility at B and invest those in endurance and health instead?

I' m not sure about your first question, i have the feeling that your substat don't change when you level items, so you need to change them, but at my stage i'm not actually sure of that, still hesistating (i'm level 85)
But for the second, yes you have an option in the low part of your screen to explore all "proprieties", it is on V shortcut on pc on the "modify screen"
Your third is the same that those above it and for your bonus, i'm also playing with spearbuild and see so few changes between A and B agility, that for now i'm keep B to increase my damage instead of moving to A grade agility.

Leveling up item by augmenting it will not change the actual stat rolls on the item but its potential ranges will increase.

This is a problem because if you are taking certain item with you all the way, you will eventually want to re-roll the stats to benefit from item level and better maximum range of each stat. This can get very costly in terms of lacrima.

The real problem is that you can use Augment of Wisdom to reset lacrima costs but be aware that Augment of Wisdom is a finite resource that can not be reliably farmed. I tried to find a spot during NG0 and NG+ and it seems there is no enemy that drop Augment of Wisdom repeatedly. You can get 1 or 2 drops from elite enemies but they eventually stop dropping it. The only source might be Ozma on NG+ as I got 2 from him so far.

You can see stat ranges by pressing touchpad on my PS5 controller (I'm using controller so I'm not sure what button it is on keyboard) when you are in Change Attributes window.

Considering the issue with bringing items with you by increasing their level repeatedly, I would say it is reasonable to craft new set every 30 to 50 levels. You should absolutely keep your weapon up to date, the weapon is probably the only gear piece I would always level up until I find new replacement as increasing weapon item level directly increases its damage. Other pieces of gear only receive minor bonus to defense and jewelry get boosts to stamina or health.

My build is dual-wield so I invest a lot into Willpower, which increases my stamina recovery speed and I'm still at Agility A due to wearing lightweight sets. I would say for spear build you want to invest into strength to keep Agility at A as you might not invest heavily into Willpower. Stamina management is very important in Khazan and you need to be able to recover your stamina reliably and have enough of it to pull off your combos at the right moment.

1. No. The value range is dictated by item level, but you would need to reroll to take advantage of that fact.

2. Yes, there's a button prompt for it.

3. You augment if you have desirable attributes on your equipment or don't feel like refarming boss materials. I wouldn't bother rerolling early to mid-game unless you enjoy doing it. Keeping your weapon at a relevant level is far more important than your armor, so I would recommend doing that.

Bonus. It's a toss-up. The stamina regeneration and dodge cost penalties make the 20 strength worth it, but you may want to prioritize health and max stamina over it. It's up to you which you think is more important at the moment, but you should invest towards A agility at some point.
Thank you all for great replies! I am thinknig priorising max health, max stamina. flat attack and defense on my gear. Bit weird that the substatst dont scale with upgrading item because rerolling might get costy like someone pointed out.
Great thing I can see the ranges! so you win some you loose some. thanks again.

You need to be careful about what stats you are trying to roll on what gear.

As a general guidance, weapons are the only gear that can have 3 offensive stats. You should prioritize the following stats for them: flat damage, Increased Damage % and % damage multiplier.

I'm using lightweight armor set so I prefer to have Defense on each piece, next is Reduced damage received % and last is Health, Stamina or Stamina Recovery Speed % depending on what you feel need for.

You can always check what stats can be rolled on a piece of gear on the same screen where you change the stats, select a stat you want to change and press appropriate button to see stat ranges. The highlighted stats on top are the ones that can be rolled on the piece of gear and slot you are at, darkened ones are not available.
