Why is no one talking about this? (Story Spoilers)
--STORY SPOILERS--

Hello,

I know many of us don't play these games for stories but I for one am absolutely digging the story of this game. It's simple and probably used many times before but it's totally enjoyable and keeps you committed to Khazan's fate and everybody around him. Sometimes you don't need complex RPG like stories, in fact some of those complex stories leave much to be desired and also leave several loose ends. I also like the fact that it's not your typical souls story where you're left to wonder what happened? How it happened? And who's who.

My only gripe with the story is Elamien's fate. Despite limited interaction with her character, I started liking her and how she idolised Khazan as a hero and wanted to help him and people in general. She was also a formidable fighter and I wished she fought some difficult battles with Khazan instead of summoning Phantoms. Her character had so much potential that devs wasted in order to add emotional element and they did but it rubbed the wrong way, it felt like they ended her character in a cheap way for the sake of it.

The addition of her character was refreshing and before we learned more about her or achieved more together, she was ended abruptly. What's more painful is that she was forced to kill Khazan, someone she saw as hero and savior. The devs didn't even give us an option to save her by making some choices/decisions, that would have added some story replay value.

Probably wishful thinking but I hope devs see this and do something about it in a DLC or sequel to bring her back. It gave me hope when Phantom said that the Chaos nearly consumed her which means her soul didn't get destroyed like Maluca's so maybe this means she can be resurrected? I don't know. I just hope devs bring her back as Khazan's friend and ally.

Please tell me you think the same way?

Yea, I also dislike the fact they didn't do any kind of choice path with her. The way it was done is kind of pointless and the only reason imo they did it is to make players a little more emotional. Khazan doesn't need more motivation as he is plenty motivated, so it was done purely for the players. But we also don't really get to know her that well since she dies pretty quickly, so it's all around not well-written. I would've preferred if we at least could have her in her soul form in the crevice with the possibility of future resurrection or her becoming some kind of spirit world general.

Agree. I also thought Elamein didn't deserve the ending she got. I wish the devs bring her back in some expansion. Also the story of Khazan is nothing spectacular but it is alright and in this kind of game the story isn't the main focus anyway.

100%

It would have been so good to have some choice to save her. Rest of the game and story is so good but this was just a bad decision. I really hope they rethink this and bring her back in future or even create a story DLC just about saving her. It's funny that Khazan managed to save several other friends in much worse conditions but for some reason she had to die while he was so close to her.

I do agree that story is not the main focus of these games but I think it's a decent addition here and will get more interesting in the sequel (if they make one). Overall having a simple story doesn't take away anything, it just adds more depth to the game. I hope they bring Elamien back, it would definitely make the story more interesting.

The most frustrating thing was that she died completely for nothing. I would be ok with it if she died fulfilling her dream, maybe protecting Khazan from an ambush by some other boss, or fighting a ton of monsters or maybe somehow exchanged her life to save someone else, maybe Ilyna or Reese. Like, if she died when she protected him from the spider boss - that would still be better. She was build up well, and then effectively was just walking in a corridor and killed by a booby trap... so, so bad and disappointing... And I think this would be much more effective if one of Khazan friends died there instead.
I hate how they made her run into the temple that was sealed. In my head I'm just like "LET ME GO FIRST! WHY ARE YOU RUNNING IN!"

I do hope there is a future DLC that helps bring them back, either alive or as spirits. Maybe with the help of Bellerian?
