It would have been so good to have some choice to save her. Rest of the game and story is so good but this was just a bad decision. I really hope they rethink this and bring her back in future or even create a story DLC just about saving her. It's funny that Khazan managed to save several other friends in much worse conditions but for some reason she had to die while he was so close to her.
I do agree that story is not the main focus of these games but I think it's a decent addition here and will get more interesting in the sequel (if they make one). Overall having a simple story doesn't take away anything, it just adds more depth to the game. I hope they bring Elamien back, it would definitely make the story more interesting.
I do hope there is a future DLC that helps bring them back, either alive or as spirits. Maybe with the help of Bellerian?
