it's the ONLY fight I found frustrating in the whole game.
there's nothing much to know anyway. You just have to learn every pattern and be patient.
it's a fight about endurance.
In general, Hismar is mechanically easy fight with very few attack patterns, single grab attack and an aerial phase that you can fall asleep at. You can only target his head but you can also hit his front legs for severely reduced damage so just focus on his head.
1. Stay put, wait for him to engage you and brink guard or dodge his attacks, he will often slam his head to the ground at the end of his attack chain. This is the opening window to deal damage
2. I change my dual-wield skill from Howling Blade to Whirlwind that is much better at hitting targets that are above the ground. Every head slam should be at minimum 1 full Whirlwind combo, if you are fast and bring guard or dodge correctly, you can get 2 combos out on each head slam.
3. You want to pay special attention to one of his attacks where he swipes at you but the follow up is a ground slam with two-stage AOE in front of the boss. You either want to brink guard repeatedly back to back or just dodge back to avoid the AOE completely.
4. When he jumps back and tries to use his lightning breath attack, run forward and dodge the attack to the side. If you are fast enough, he will only do 2 attacks and gives you decent opening for dealing damage, otherwise, he will do 3 lightning attacks if you stay at a distance.
5. If you have spare spirit, you can use javelins when he is at a distance, aim for head as they deal decent damage.
6. Once you reduce his HP somewhat, he will start using slam attacks charged with Chaos. If you pay attention, he aims those attacks at either side of his head so dodge to opposite side. This gives you great opening to deal damage as the chaos AOE leaves lingering damage on the ground where it lands.
General tip for attacks where you are not sure how to avoid them, you can hold guard while dodging for extra safety. Make sure you do not hold guard for too long or too early as it slows your stamina regeneration. This is very useful for his ranged lightning/chaos attacks and his later phase attacks with Chaos AOE element.
After certain attacks he leaves his head at ground level for a few seconds so you can actually reach it. Successfully defend those attacks and hit his head with your most frontloaded, high damage abilities. Breaking his horns and depleting his stamina are your other opportunities to do damage, so be ready to take full advantage of them.
He doesn't have a ton of HP thankfully, but you will spend a lot of the fight just defending and waiting for the few attacks you know you can punish.
Ok
Well soon as I get this guy I will let you know how I did it 😆
Good luck all!!!
