Don't get me wrong, I like the game a lot and have beaten it a couple times now, but it doesn't give the sense of adventure that souls games do, largely because the world isn't interconnected, and the mission based levels leave a lot to be desired. It's definitely still worth playing, though, and much harder than other games in the genre.
Also, if we are to compare Wu kong to most of the older souls titles, wu kong level designs requires more exploration not because they use a different formula, but the maps are really huge in comparison. Funny you made the claim. I wonder what is really on you mind.
This has the usual souls-like level design and enemy placement. Check your corners for sneaky enemies, see an enemy with their back turned, probably another one nearby to gank you while you sneak up, ranged units to harass you while you fight melee units.
Cool story, not according to all the live streamers playing wukong and my own wukong gaming experience. Darks souls may have started the genre but Wukong isn't really a souls like. While it is true that Wukong has a lot of invisible wall, it doesn't make Wu Kong map any more smaller for each chapter and it does require more time to explore.
Chapter one is indeed short but everyone exclaimed how huge the map was compared to what they experience starting from Chapter 2. In comparison, Dark souls seems huge simply because all areas were simply interconnected because it doesn't follow a Chapter system like Nioh or Wukong. But people like you can't tell the difference.
So, it looks like an anti Chinese bias rearing its ugly head again, making false claims with the usual a kneel jerk reaction after being called out. Typical.
I am already falling asleep, thanks for your uninteresting assumptions.
I've beaten 3 bosses now in Khazan and the combat system is so much more enjoyable. The bosses are fun even though I'm dying and it so far feels fair. The game is also, as far as I can tell, quite optimized. It feels a lot smoother than Wukong even though I have over 100fps in both.
I suggest you give the demo a try. That's what I died. You can continue with the same save if you decide to purchase it.
Speaking of Wukong, I believe it is very much overrated thanks to the Chinese reviewers. I checked steam and it has a total of 1,141,762 reviews. 1,023,594 of those are Chinese. I don't think it is necessarily a bad game, but definitely overrated.
It's not really a souls like at all imo. I mean Lords of the Fallen is a souls like. But this is just a 3rd person melee combat game.
It is fun so far but the bosses can be quite the pain in the azz.
