So For True Ending
Do I really need to find all the extras? I have just the jars left and while I want to fight Phase 3 of Lord Purple Drink I don't really want to go hunt ten jars that don't seem to have anything to do with anything.

No, you need to do 2 specific side quests the sword and the chain one and get the specific 15 golden collectibles (Reese 1-3, Prophecy 1-4, Hismar Conquest 1-4, The Day of Black Moon Rose 1-4). Jars aren't needed.

And in the last mission area 2/3 through the level you will find Daphrona that will ask you a question and depending if you met the requirements you will be able to select the third option, wanting to know the truth which sets you up with the true ending route.
