potent blow

After I break the enemy resistance,I cant do potent blow. I press Y (i use xbox controller) I hold Y,but its not working. Am i doing something wrong?

You got things mixed up. Potent blow is heavy attack. You want to do Brutal attack, which is triggered by O on PS controller--it is the button for interactions.
