Jar hunting is an awful experience
The fact that the levels completely reset and you have to deal with literally every stage mechanic over again to find a hidden jar just feels sloppy. Why can we warp to any checkpoint from the hub, but everything behind you is locked if you warp forward, and everything in front of you is reset back to default even though the level has been cleared?

I don't like using guides for games but this is an abysmal experience having to slop through low level enemies just to pull a bunch of switches, turn statues, push buttons and do all of the other things that progress a stage you've already completed just to find a single hidden jar somewhere in the level.

don't worry, your reward for finding all of them is losing the jar shop. you don't get anything and actually lose game functionality. *game design*
Really you don't get anything? Not even an Achievement? If not WTH does that quest exist...
Finding the Jarlings is even easier than Kodama in Nioh. They are so incredibly easy to find. There is a very noticeable sound queue if you're close enough. You only need to look for vases/pots and if you do any sort of decent map exploration (which is basically just walk the whole mission once and check corners in this game) you will easily get all Jarlings.

Some are hidden behind secret walls, but those are also insanely easy to spot in this game. I really don't see how finding these could be much of an issue.

You get a Steam Achievement just fine (currently 1.9% of players have completed it) and the Jar guy sadly has a bug atm that, if you collect all 44 Jarlings, and speak with him again you lose the UI prompt to open his shop. This stays in NG+ for now. So either buy all 3 max level heads from his shop before collecting #44 and then return to him, or only buy the one helmet you need for your build and wait for devs to fix the bug
kodama was done much better in nioh and I actually had fun, here I just need to destroy every jar mindlessly.....
Why would you destroy everything? You can buy a collectible lantern and there is even a sound cue if you are near a jar. I find 95% of my jars by accident when i heard the sound cue

I have collected 33 jars so far and to be honest, I have not noticed the sound ques or the lantern glowing even if I tried to use it. I also use PS5 controller and never noticed the vibrations.
You have an audio cue (like a music box melody in the background) when nearby, and a slight gamepad vibration.

I just don't hunt them at all. I don't care about the rewards.
I agree that unless you manually reset the mission for re-runs, the shortcuts should stay open.

Because that's how devs designed it duh.
Also re. level design, I tell you, I have awful spatial awareness and always get lost in games (irl too lel). This one, however, is the first one I don't ever get lost in a level. So for me it's perfect and logical design. To each their own eh :BMW_CHAMPAGNE:
Bro got banned for simping for jars

yeah I despise this kind of objective in games. "Destroy everything to find collectable or ressources" is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea to inflate playtime, it's not fun and becomes a chore really fast.
They make a very distinct noise when you’re near them btw.

So, I just paid attention on my last mission. The sound is there, it is likely I just mistook it previously for generic background ambiance. However, I do not have any vibration on my PS5 controller even if in other situations vibration works. Weird.

I don't have any gamepad vibrations on my xbox360 pad, vibrations are turned on

I'd give every kid like you a game that is already at the end screen with everything "completed" so you can flex, just to get rid of such people from gaming community :steambored: Why even play games if you clearly don't like the idea of, well, playing games :BMW_MAD:
He never said he didn't like playing the game. He doesn't like to have to backtrack gameplay he's already done just to go collect some jars. I kind of agree with him but that is our "opinion" and not everyone dislikes it. It's a fact that it's an easy way for the devs to inflate the game's life spam
Steam Deck doesn't vibrate, the cape of my armor covers up the lantern, and I can barely hear the audio cue most of time. Poorly implemented IMO. Probably going to stop me from getting the plat. It just isn't fun looking under furniture for ♥♥♥♥ I don't need.
