Pell Los Guardian Knight and trooper don't do counter-attack attacks
How are you supposed to get their bonus training when there is no way to reliably make them do a counterable attack ? They just don't do this attack, basically ever.

I am trying to figure this one now. I have no idea how to make them do their special attacks so that I can counter them. I have tried everything. Attacking aggresively, guarding, brick guarding, just dodging, keeping my distance... Nothing works. They just don't do those special red attacks ever.

I will keep trying different things and see if I manage to make them do it. There has to be a consistent way of doing this.

EDIT: Ok, I figured it out. You basically need to do a heavy attack combo when they have their shields up and then they will do their special red attacks in retaliation that you can counter. Basically you guard/brick guard their combos, do a 3 heavy attack combo that they block and they will always retaliate with theirs special attacks that you need to counter. Do the loop like that 3 times and you are good to go.

Sorry for the institutional translation.
How to complete the bonus training of the knights of Per Ross!

■ Spear
Use a definite technique that can be countered by putting in a series of attacks after a shield slap

■ Sword
If you make a series of attacks after the four-strike attack, you can use a definite counter move.

If your weapon is decent, you will beat him, so use a weak weapon!

What weapon did you use to do it?
Because I attack him while he's defending, and he never attacks.
I hit him with three powerful dual attacks and a spear.

Nothing works.
Went to the 2nd level to get the lowest weapon possible, no dice. Even tried fist only and he did it once. Got bored and moved on and said F these 2 challenges.

I use dual wield. When they do their 3 or 4 hit combos on me I just guarded/brick guarded and then did my own 3 hit heavy/potent blow attack (usually the first attack would land and the second and third would hit their shields) and in 90% of the time they would retaliate with a red attack that I would then counter.

Basically, from my testing they would red attack you only if you slammed on their shields hard.

Dual wield: as other players said, wait for for 3 attack combo (spearman) and 4 attack combo (swordman). After the last attack just use Ruthless (heavy attacks worked only on spearman, But ruthless worked for both). And they use thir "red attack". Unfortunately I always couldn't counter the first "red attack" (animation didn't end until I was hit). But there is always 2 chance with second attack jusr right after the 1 one.

I switched off brinck block damage and used Ruthless lvl1. My Dual wield were 250 atk (had some 41lvl from long ago)

For me what worked was going naked with only a low lvl dual wield weapon (Atk 304, i was at ng+ at the time so that was low given the circumstances) and i kept spamming the ruthless ability, however what guaranteed 3 out of 3 times the red attack was starting to channel the ruthless after they had been posture broken. so right before they picked themselves back up from the brutal attack state i started using ruthless and it triggered the red attack 3 times in a row

Completely bugged. Impossible to accomplish with a greatsword. Am i supposed to completely respec my entire build just to do this? Who designed this? A really dark spot in otherwise great game.

I didn't respec my greatsword build, I just equipped the dual wields to do it.
