What does "chain" on the Butcher Set do?

I assume it's some kind of stacking damage boost but I can't find any info.

You can find out what things do by pressing V or whatever keybind help is when looking at gear or crafting recipes. Chain increases stamina damage by 5% per stack. Removes all stacks when attacking at maximum stacks,
