ah i see, so they do not a lot of damage. cool, i will switch to spear
Sorry I don’t try when I post things.
So here is a better attempt
No, greatsword does massive damage
Commas can be important.
Incorrect there is a normal attack build and it slaps. But yes the charge attack build takes less game knowledge and is very effective
This is wrong. Great sword does a lot of stamina damage, yes, but to say it sucks with the normal attack? No. Normal attack with 646 is doing 1900 a swing. Charged hit normal is doing around 3100 a swing, The thing is though, you are rewarded for charged hits, you aren't rewarded for normal. So the real problem, is the great sword is bad early on vs the other two weapons, but shines in the later game.
However, you will always have that lumbering "Can't catch em and move slow." feeling, but when you wallop something for 42k in a matter of 3 seconds, those feelings alter pretty fast. Spear and dual wield can't do that. They do a lot, but the fact I stagger bosses in one counterstrike, makes me smile.
That's definitely you a you problem then. You can do bonkers damage to bosses depending on the skills and setups you use.
Its important to point out that this is true for greatsword only after a certain point in the game where youve unlocked a couple of key skills and have access to particular sets. Early game greatsword damage is lacking vs bosses relative to the other 2 weapons.
Following some brink guards with Armor Breaker into Heart Piercer if time allows.
And some Giant Hunts here and there though it feels lackluster to me(maybe lvl 34 perk would make something out of it, dunno).
Regular enemies die in no time, but holy hell what's the deal with bosses having bajillion health, i do literally couple pixels-width line of damage...
I'm fine with monsters having this much HP as they don't regenerate stamina, but why the fck do humanoid enemies now have same hp pool, Blade Phantom was deadly enough without truckloads of HP ...

The only other boss available prior for greatsword is blade phantom. Am I gonna have to do this for blade phantom in order to quash this early game argument?
