nioh is hard lol. it's considerably harder than any from soft game except maybe sekiro. and it's NG+ is actually harder than NG, even with all your utility, unlike ds which just got easier until you're at like Ng+++ where it starts evening out. admittedly at release when you could exploit Yokai Shift the game was considerably easier, but it's been patched and the game in it's current state is challenging. even if it's not difficult for you because you're a pro gamer, when compared to other games it is in fact hard.
i've seen just as many people say that this and nioh are nothing alike as there are people who say they are exactly the same. i'm in the middle where it's similar to nioh, but there are plenty of differences. considerably more weapon choices in nioh, less focus on full armor sets in nioh, more platforming in nioh, greater emphasis on yokai shift than phantom mode which is barely used by most players (takes a HUGE skill point investment for viability), stances, way bigger emphasis in guarding in this game compared to dodging in nioh and the list goes on. overall i'd say it's closer to nioh than dark souls tho for sure.
At the end of the day, Team Ninja never improved unlike From Software. They had their gimmicks with special moves, yokai stuff, combos, stances and they downgraded ever since. Their games feel more like diablo than souls-games.
Khazan is much better. Team Ninja are just the epitome of a B-tier dev company.
Devs have openly said they're huge Nioh fans iirc.
The parry windows in this are more forgiving than Nioh. The timing on reflects/deflects is more difficult than any of the timing in Nioh. The way some abilities parry based off animation timing and some parry based off weapon location takes some getting used to.
say what you will but Nioh 2 is hands down one of the best games i have ever played, although i dont look at it as a soulslike, it is definitely the best soulslike. of course you are free to say otherwise, but this one sided hate you have for it is not universal.
It's kinda sad seeing another studio make a great game with their formula while Team Ninja is busy "appealing to a wider audience."
Hate? I think they make decent games, just not From Software-tier like some say. Level design, OST, animations and sound effects are still not on that level. I only really dislike Nioh 2 because I expected so much more from it after Nioh.
I think Khazan did the animations really well and at least passable in sound design (some sfx seem to be copied from Lies of P).
In Khazan's case, the loot doesn't make sense because they didn't fix the demo weapons scaling, so I'm just using demo weapons. Furthermore, I bought the deluxe version so I'm using the deluxe armor, which is way too OP compared to anything else. They made loot basically stuff to get free lacrima.
Also wasn't keen on the aesthetic of Lords of the Fallen. There isn't a whole lot I like about that tbh.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a graphical remaster and NG4 is made by Platinum.
I hated LotF 2.0. At some point, I didn't know where to go and was just aimlessly wandering the map until I uninstalled it. The lack of enemy diversity and weak bosses didn't make it more fun.
