Is this game for me?
I recently picked few souls-like games but never played them coz I’ve been intimidated by their difficulty. Then I decided to try this game as my first and omg, it’s really challenging and humbling. I’m stubborn tho and just won’t play on Easy mode.

I’m curious, how does the difficulty in this game compare to other titles like Elden Ring and Lies of P?

So far, I’ve managed to beat the 2 fights with the blade phantom after 5 hours of gameplay but I’m not sure if that means I’m just bad at this type of game.

nah take the game at your own pace my dude.. skills in these games come over time and to be fair so far i felt lies of p was harder so far. Lies of P is less forgiving and a waaaaaaaaay smaller parry window.

Elden Ring is easier than either of them and you have a lot of tools to deal with enemies. Lies of P has easier bosses early on at least, but pretty hard late game bosses and probabbly harder levels.

The problem is that parrying in LoP isn't super important for the most part until you get to final bosses, so if you avoid it early on then you make those bosses harder for yourself in a way.

Yeah true, but I had a harder time with it over lies of p lol. So far I’m having fun with beserker though and I find it a little more forgiving. Especially deaths on bosses.
I would rank Lies of P in terms of difficulty on the easier side of souls games. It's there with Bloodborne and Elden Ring in terms of difficulty for me.

I'm actually finding Khazan a lot harder than all of those I've mentioned so far. That 3rd boss wrecked me harder than any boss in any game I've played in a long time.
Elden Ring is a lot easier than this, never tried Lies of P.

The pacing is weird. The second main story boss is a big jump compared to everything up to that point. It almost seems out of place?
probably not if u ask that after 5 hours of gameplay... i will say this thought, the combat get way better later on when you character has more stamina and moves unlocked. game seems to be alot about parrying and chaining long combos instead of the typical r1 spam that most souls games have and i always hated that about souls-games, while they are fantastical games, the combat always felt kinda boring to me. this game is basically nioh 2 with some improvements.
It seems like misery is part of the experience with this type of game. I just didn’t know what to expect since I’m used to games where you upgrade stuff and easily crush enemies looool
