use counter and reflect (get the health restore on brutal attack).
dodge > block

first volbaino overhead is easier to consistently reflect, especially with the reflect activation reduction skill (reflect obliterates Volb stamina).
training room is great for getting feel for timing (input a little earlier than enemy attack).

You are supposed to move from one part of the room, the ground, to the elevated part using the ladder. When you move up, the boss will follow you shortly and the encounter continues there.
Be mindful how you place the fire circles from the nail as they can block you from moving around. Phase 2, when you move to the higher ground, is sort of burn phase. You need to kill the boss as soon as possible as his fire enhanced attack will continuously chip away on your health even if you brink block them.

This is golden advice. Just casually manage one of the most difficult to time moves, Reflection, and be golden. Obviously, If I can pull off Reflection whenever I want the fight would be easy.
and u can farm fire ressistance stuff

The two biggest factors that helped me were to dodge his flame nail attacks, and block the hammer attacks. When he's half health, he'll put the nail into the ground to initiate lighting the floor on fire, as soon as they begin this, run to the ladder and fight them on the next floor. Go back down if they repeat this attack. I struggled less with this fight than Viper. 2 hours as opposed to 2 and a half haha.

it is lowkey all about dying as crazy as that sounds cause then you get to learn what moves they do and how to counter it but trust me the boss fights get far more worse

That is the only attack I could counter with some degree of success but it was still very spotty. I could open the fight with the Retaliation on his first overhead attack but later it is much more hectic, which throws my timing off.

I ultimately found it more reliable to focus on brink blocks and chipping away on the boss with the attack in between. You might want to try to delay the boss from switching to phase 2 by trying to stun him, by depleting his stagger bar, just as he is trying to slam the nail into the ground to release that massive fire AOE. This will make 2nd phase, when you move to higher ground, much easier as he will have less health. The 2nd phase is fight against time as he is using a lot of fire enchanted attacks that will be chipping away your health even through brink blocks so you need to kill him before he kills you.

and yeah use the ladder and shot arrows help me a lot
it took me way too long to figure out that you want to dodge his pick attacks as they deal damage through the parries lol also no I was not playing on easy mode so its absolutely doable

I found him easier than Viper but that isn't saying much as every boss in this game is just misery incarnate. I just kept dodging to the left and hitting him in the brief periods I was deemed allowed by the game when he wasn't flailing around like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spastic.
