The First Berserker: Khazan

Statistiche:
Great game so far but.....
I understand why this game can take 80+hrs to beat.

I have noticed a few things so far the enemy placement and level design are diabolical, to the point it feels like classic souls were there is an ambush or a pit around every corner.

On the "normal" difficulty the bosses are TANKY to the point i takes like 5-6 staggers, and full combo punishes to take them down.

Also this game is SLOW to role out major systems, for example I just now unlocked the blacksmith (or I thought), but I still need to do another mission to get his hammer lol. This is about 10hrs into the game (4 of those on the Lizard boss lol)

Its still early but I don't know how I feel about the pace/padding of the game so far, as its kind of up and down.

Just commenting from the demo, this thread is interesting, all I will say from the demo is that the game never feels cheap. It is hard, but once you actually learn the mechanics, you blow through the bosses and everything.

I played Nioh 1 in full, and I remember some bosses (esp bonus bosses), they are just cheap like putting two overpowered Ninjas against you that zip around the room and nearly insta kill you (this is very Team Ninja btw, they f*** you in every one of their games like Ninja Gaiden, the only exception is maybe Ronin). I didn't play Nioh 2 but I hear it's easier.

So yeah in the demo of this, I didn't feel that they ever put ridiculous OP bosses or enemies. It's casual friendly. It only feels hard when you're still learning the mechanics or refuse to learn.

In Team Ninja games, there are many moments where I uninstalled the games because I knew I could not beat that boss, and my skill level would never be good enough. Mostly because it's cheap. I don't feel this in that game.

Just my first impressions obviously.

The demo was pretty straight forward, but the demo bosses are cake walks compared to what comes after lol.
Reminder that the blacksmith for Wukong was locked behind a secret (Not side) mission and a lot of people never even got it. The black smith in this is for crafting, in wukong, it was upgrading. The augmenting gear quest comes later.

How useful is the system? I just unlocked him. Beat boss 5.

My weapon is STILL the best thing I've gotten. All the drops have been weaker than the weapon I've had since the start due to B+ scaling I think.

Allows you to reoll stats and level the weapon/gear. Scaling doesn't change. So if you find a set you like and don't want to craft it, this is a good alternative to keeping it. Such as the deluxe set, you can just level it to your level.

Oh okay the leveling will be great. How far are you now.

I hear Boss 7 is the next nightmare boss. I just beat 5.

Huh? I played through Wo Long like 5-6 times and the blacksmith is literally ON the main path in the 2nd main mission. There is nothing "secret" about it.

Also in Wo Long once you got the black smith as a character ALL of her services were availible, it was not like this where you get the blacksmith, then you get his hammer, then later on to augment gear you get some cube for the witch,...etc.

In understand padding out your game but geez lol.

Overall I like this game but if late to end game does not change much I don't see myself replaying multiple times like I did Team Ninjas games because overall the combat depth and build complexity is not really there. Or at least so far I'm not seeing it.

I'm on boss 8. 7 is going to be rough for some people, but I'll say it as plain as I can "Defense." Play that fight defensively and you'll have an easier time. Be too aggressive and it activate the boss's counters.

Oh I guess it has like a bar that fills if you attack too often and triggers a counterattack. That's kinda how Kingdom Hearts 2 bosses are they have a revenge meter or whatever. (but that was a set number of hits)

Not entirely sure. I went hyper aggressive against him and he activated counter attack a lot, which is not a "Bad" thing, but missing it hurts. If you play defensively, he gets pushed back and you control the flow of the fight. It's how I did it, took around 16 tries or so. Really cool boss though.
I also wanted to add to my post that the story/characters are so uninteresting. I'm not super familiar with DFO characters/lore, but given the IP has been a thing for a while I expected something a bit more deeper then this.

For example there is one character you meet in a main mission, your player character does not know them up until that point. Well a few missons later that same character is gone (if you catch my drift) and the story tries its hardest to get you to care for a character that was never even developed lol.

The game is fun, I'm glad I bought it, and I look forward to NG+ but so far its no where near Nioh levels and I'm even talking about Nioh 1.
