This boss makes me think they may have designed the bosses with the spirit of advocacy in mind.

It seems the gimmick for this one is to stop guarding and dodge instead. He'll chip damage you through perfect guards while the spike is red hot. Other than that, switch elevation with the ladder when he does his big damage that burns the whole floor

Yep dodging and switching floors was the trick for me.

Nah. After defeat viper I have learn perfect blocking and how to do the counter attack. And volbainon have many counter attack opportunities. Win him on the third try. But viper 2 consecutive day(like 100 tries) .

I thought this was an amazing fight. Very clear patterns, just enough health, transition mid battle...very cool.

BRINK DODGING IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN BRINK GUARDING.

Not really though, because if you are able to pull off brink guards consistently, you conserve more stamina to complete a full attack chain or more depending on the window. This leads to exhausting him decently with attacks after each of his finishing hit.

Without using reflection and having high fire resistance, I find brink guarding is the second less timely method to farm both boss versions.
