Can call it padding if you want. It's balancing. It's balanced differently. I know you are talking about Viper lol. I do agree that maybe Viper is in the wrong place in the progression.
Nerfing could go horribly wrong though, gotta be careful with this stuff.
In games like The Division where the skill ceiling is so low that excessive armor just becomes a war of attrition, sure.
Mechanically sound games should have fights long enough that a requirement is being familiar with all of the movesets and how to handle them.
Viper can be killed in like 2:30 on Normal. You just have to understand the game and put some thought into what you're building around.
thats the kind of crap that happens with late game bosses. not the 3rd boss lol.
2:30 is min maxed. What is the average time? Non-speed runner.
Probably around 5 - 7 minutes depending on the weapon and player. Probably closer to 3 - 4 minutes if it's an average player that understands the game and the fight.
Yeah like I said I feel like they should have swapped Viper with the Spider (boss 5) in the progression.
also the fact that the phantom AI is dumb and gets itself killed by running into vipers tornado attack.
i had to rush in and stun viper while taking damage from it just to save the stupid thing lol.
in the end i beat viper on normal but hes a pain.
You seem to be confused. Souls likes are not for the vast majority. They never were and never will be. This is obviously not the game for you. If you are not okay with dying until you learn the attacks and openings then you are in the wrong place. For some it takes hours for some it takes 20 minutes. Alot of people including myself loves the mastery of games like this, it gives gaming an edge that casual gaming doesn't. Not everyone wants to sit back in their chair eating Doritos half asleep while the game plays itself. Some of us wants to sit in a shrimp posture 1 inch from the computer display with a pulse of 140.
Could you, please, start some reading with understanding course? This is pathetic
