Like I said, if the boss is actually hard, fair and cool looking, alright, but having 2 whole HP bar phases with 2 mid-fight phases is actually crazy this early in the game, he also has quite a lot of HP in both phases so it's a bit too much for the player (even experienced one), especially while only having 4 or 5 heals. The best thing would be to just decrease his HP by even like 20% in first phase and he would be alright. His 2nd phase is much easier imo than his 1st phase so balancing it like this would make more sense.
I wouldnt say that viper is underwhelming, I enjoyed the fight a lot. And to be honest I dont know why its so important for you that a boss looks "cool". I think he looks pretty cool in phase 2, especially when the screen turns dark and you just see his eyes glowing in the shadow.
And no idea what you mean by too much HP. To me it felt completely normal and it takes about 3-5mins to kill him which is pretty quick (maybe my perspective on it is different since I play a lot of ffxiv and raids take up to 20mins)
The first time I killed him I even had 2 heals left over. The fight itself isnt hard at all, its just that it takes a bit longer than other other bosses which imo balances him with how easy to read his attacks are
imo viper was cooler than most of the early game elden ring bosses (which were way to easy and flat overall, but hey maybe thats just me)
but yeah I cant comment on greatsword since I play with the spear. all i heard is that you have to play a lot more defensive with it
By too much HP I mean that his first non-powered-up phase has same or similar amount of HP compared to his powered-up second phase, doesn't really make sense to me that an average looking lizard has same amount of HP compared to his second dragon-like looking phase.
I quite enjoyed his second phase because it's something special and it has great music, but the first phase is just annoying and it takes too long, the first phase should be just an introduction to the second phase with less HP. First and second phase take approximately same amount of time to beat which is a bit weird because you basically go from common enemy to a dragon, but they are on the same level with HP.
He doesn't seem hard, but I am still waiting for something more interesting lol.
Viper is a diaper check, whoever that struggles with this boss is a meme personified. Phase one can be staggered inifinitely with the spear and phase 2 is basically a yeti with a sword.
we probably just have different perspectives on it but to me it doesnt matter at all how much health he has in the first phase since its still just so easy. Like I said he first phase maybe takes around 120-150secs. Also why would he have more HP in the second phase? He just stabbed himself and the power of Hismar is obviously eatinjg away at him after his damn arm grows spikes and turns into a dragonclaw. His transformation looked... painful... xD
To me it actually felt like he took more damage in the second phase, which would make sense since that phase is just his death struggle. the phase just takes as long as the first one since he spends half a minute just jumping around and you cant really do much about it other than blocking
If a boss has enchanted weapon skill, such as Valbiono, you will receive small amount of damage every time you block or even brink block.
