Yo, is Viper like the end game boss or what.
They really bringing whole 2 HP bar fight with terrible timings this early? I though Blade Phantom was the "welcome to the game" boss, he was great, this one is a bit disappointing lol.

I don't even have to read all of it and I already know that your opinion really is not that valuable because you didn't try it.

I have played more than enough Elden Ring, I even beat everything in the DLC within 30 minutes (including Messmer, he actually fell on 2nd try) and you can't really compare those games to this one, in ER your main dodge is to roll, in this game, you pretty much have to deflect everything because I feel like that it helps out more during the fight.

This game is more comparable to Lies of P, rather than FromSoft games imo.
"This game is comparable to lies of p rather than Fromsoftware games" ..From which two games lies of p is created and got ideas then Sekiro and Bloodborne which are fromsoftware games ,lies of p is copy pasted Sekiro .If you can beat Sekiro you can beat viper with eyes closed..
You don't have the game, your opinion has zero value, like I said before lol.

Spirit of Advocacy is the summon near the entrance?

I don't use those so I don't know lol.
they are trash and yes. they always die to vipers tornado move every single damn time.
Well, it should be a little help to get you through the fight, at least in the beginning. In Lies of P, you could just sit back and watch the summon do 70% of the fight alone because they were TOO overtuned in LoP.

viper is pretty easy, brink guarding his attacks is no trouble at all and you can even parry most of his attacks leaving him open for some big damage
(just spam attacks until your stamina is depleted and then spam spirit skills since those dont use up stamina, best case you can even finish your combo with a brutal attack and gain full stamina again so you can continue attacking)
second phase is actually easier since his attacks become slower and more predictable.
managed to beat him without taking damage a few times now (my bf watches me play this game so each time i wanna play but he isnt there I just go back to kill old bosses so he doesnt miss anything new xD)

the first time took me about 30mins
-70% just memorizing his moveset while dying to him lol
-20% figuring out the parry timing for each attack while talking to my bf about the boss being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ahaha
-10% to actually beat him with 2 health potions left over (no consumables, no dlc armor)

once you know his moveset the fight will be a walk in the park (for any boss really)
also dont forget to parry, it is OP just like in any soulslike (stagger + huge stamina drain)
another also: if you parry a lot, you will exhaust the boss a lot and there is a skill that regenerates hp each time you do a brutal attack (getting an average of 4-6 staggers in those 2 phases means you regenerate about the same or more amount of health that a healing flask would restore just by beating his ass)
I appreciate the tips and I already know how bosses work in these games, I have spent 9 hours fighting Malenia and like 5 or 6 hours fighting Consort Radahn in Elden Ring so I know how hard bosses are supposed to look like. The thing is that this Viper guy is just too underwhelming in terms of everything that you will just go there and be like "Oh, what a cute lizard, let me beat your ass", but no, it's nothing like it.

Like I said, if the boss is actually hard, fair and cool looking, alright, but having 2 whole HP bar phases with 2 mid-fight phases is actually crazy this early in the game, he also has quite a lot of HP in both phases so it's a bit too much for the player (even experienced one), especially while only having 4 or 5 heals. The best thing would be to just decrease his HP by even like 20% in first phase and he would be alright. His 2nd phase is much easier imo than his 1st phase so balancing it like this would make more sense.
So I just reached Volbaino and I am starting to feel that greatsword in this game is super weak for some reason lol.

I wouldnt say that viper is underwhelming, I enjoyed the fight a lot. And to be honest I dont know why its so important for you that a boss looks "cool". I think he looks pretty cool in phase 2, especially when the screen turns dark and you just see his eyes glowing in the shadow.

And no idea what you mean by too much HP. To me it felt completely normal and it takes about 3-5mins to kill him which is pretty quick (maybe my perspective on it is different since I play a lot of ffxiv and raids take up to 20mins)
The first time I killed him I even had 2 heals left over. The fight itself isnt hard at all, its just that it takes a bit longer than other other bosses which imo balances him with how easy to read his attacks are

imo viper was cooler than most of the early game elden ring bosses (which were way to easy and flat overall, but hey maybe thats just me)

oh I beat that guy yesterday, he's pretty fun since you can easily parry most of his attacks and that you have to switch to the upper stage at one point is something I dont think I've seen elsewhere before so its a pretty cool fight

but yeah I cant comment on greatsword since I play with the spear. all i heard is that you have to play a lot more defensive with it

His 1st phase is just boring af for me, nothing special, I just love when the boss design and visuals are something to remember.

By too much HP I mean that his first non-powered-up phase has same or similar amount of HP compared to his powered-up second phase, doesn't really make sense to me that an average looking lizard has same amount of HP compared to his second dragon-like looking phase.

I quite enjoyed his second phase because it's something special and it has great music, but the first phase is just annoying and it takes too long, the first phase should be just an introduction to the second phase with less HP. First and second phase take approximately same amount of time to beat which is a bit weird because you basically go from common enemy to a dragon, but they are on the same level with HP.

I am having feeling that you have to play very aggresively with the greatsword, I am focusing on counterattacking (the light attack right after perfect guard) because the sword is very slow and the only attacks which are fast and for which I don't get punished are the after-dash attacks and these after-perfect-guard attacks lol.

He doesn't seem hard, but I am still waiting for something more interesting lol.

Viper is a diaper check, whoever that struggles with this boss is a meme personified. Phase one can be staggered inifinitely with the spear and phase 2 is basically a yeti with a sword.

we probably just have different perspectives on it but to me it doesnt matter at all how much health he has in the first phase since its still just so easy. Like I said he first phase maybe takes around 120-150secs. Also why would he have more HP in the second phase? He just stabbed himself and the power of Hismar is obviously eatinjg away at him after his damn arm grows spikes and turns into a dragonclaw. His transformation looked... painful... xD

To me it actually felt like he took more damage in the second phase, which would make sense since that phase is just his death struggle. the phase just takes as long as the first one since he spends half a minute just jumping around and you cant really do much about it other than blocking

i struggled to get past his first phase with greatsword, i switch to spear and kill him with all 4 of my heals remaining, spear is goated and made me feel like a badass
this helped with the fight a lot for me, spear just seems miles easier to use for this boss than greatsword. didn't help that the ghost arm block wasn't even doing anything vs this boss for whatever reason

Finally beat this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ after about 30 attempts, was such a great feeling. Tried all three weapons but I defintely find the spear the best.

From the looks of it, spear seems really overpowered which is quite surprising, I would have guessed that probably the dual wields will be the most OP, but well... I am sure there is gonna be a patch soon because I have read comments made by few people that spear makes the fights MUCH easier.

Yo, am I weird that I just realised that while doing brink guard, you take damage anyways?

...

EDIT: Am I stupid or what, I swear that it did damage me few minutes ago, but now it doesn't...
Normal attacks that you brink block will not damage you and only cost a fraction of a stamina while not interrupting your stamina regen.

If a boss has enchanted weapon skill, such as Valbiono, you will receive small amount of damage every time you block or even brink block.

Yeah, I realised that after I beat him. I knew something was going on lol.
