One thing that almost always works to get them to work though is to go into steam big picture. There is a setting somewhere where you have a list of different controllers and which of them are detected automatically. Ticking your controller there usually helps, if that isn't enough you can try to download a custom controller layout for the game.
People often have layouts that are just the regular keybinds that you can use to make steam recognize the controller.
Big picture is the stupid thing you open with the monitor icon top right. Be aware the UI is ultra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and finding anything is a literal pain cuz Steam hates people using their controllers.
This works but in the game I am getting Xbox controller button layout. I am playing the demo though, does the full game support the dualsense properly?
thanks for the tip
If people are saying it works, it most likely does.
Try enabling steam input when you boot up the game by pressing shift&tab and clicking the controller option.
Or alternatively click the controller option on the stream game launch screen
and enable steam input there.
If that don't work you could be using an old wire that's on its way out.
Might be worth trying that?
You have to enable Steam Input, trouble is you get an xbox button layout (annoyingly) but the controller does work. Steam is just basically hit and miss for the dualsense, it's irritating.
