Viper needs some hard tuning. (spoilers)

He has way too much health for a two phase, full lifebar fight. Also the AI Co-op is relatively useless here because they frequently just stand in his whirlwind and die. I was having fun until this part, it's a roadblock to the point of not being fun.

I love how these threads pop up the moment a difficult-ish game is playable. It was the same with the Wo Long tutorial boss, I remember Elden Ring people throwing a fit over Margit lol.

Viper is basically the end of the tutorial. From there on it's break poise/exhaust stamina bars or perish. If this isn't how you'd like to play the game then it's not for you, unfortunately.

And I love how every time someone posts about difficult boss in souls-like it acts as a lure for "true gamer(tm)" crowd that itches to tell everyone how bad they are and that this game is not for them. So old, I hate it.

Honestly, if you're already crying at viper even though the boss is definitely not overpowered, then wait and see when you get further ^^ Viper is the first real boss.

Eh I saw the jellyfish sorceress fight. She has one health bar and it seems about comparable to maybe 1.2x VIper phase 1.

I get the distinct feeling people complaining about this fight are using a slow weapon type and choosing poor stat investment/skill placement.

Nah, I think Viper is too fast of a strong boss before the combat even clicked for a lot of people. Game is pretty combo based. You don't play it like dark souls where you hit twice/three times then back off. You aim to destroy the boss stamina then pull off a long combo.

That's why viper was/is too strong for the place he's at. That's also why a lot of people mention him having too much HP. He doesn't if you properly learn to combo, even smaller combos like 3x light attack > 3x heavy attack > > 3x light attack > skill finisher with the spear. The boss staggers and stays staggered if you keep hitting him. And due to that long combo you'll break his stamina bar which opens him up for a brutal or just another combo.
