i found the parry timing to be fine he just has some delayed mid combo attacks. he wasnt EASY but he wasnt too hard either, a good starter boss imo
First thing I did was respec to Spear, since it has a longer range than dual-wield and I could hit him more from further away: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3441880524
Then I put Skillpoints into Breakdown, Endurance and a few Attack Skills like Moonlight, Shadow Cleave and Zero Point. Then I just parried his 6/3-Hit Combos trying to brink guard as much as possible and hit him with 1-2 Heavy Blows and Zero Point Combo and maybe a few Light Blows after to destroy his Stamina. After learning his patterns a bit on the second Stage I finally beat him with 2x Healing left. It was satisfying, but I'm not sure I'd call it fun and I perfectly understand why some people would Ragequit there.
That Blade Phantom boss is just a parry check because the whole game is going to be like that. Also, the parry in this game is unbelievably forgiving compared to other games in a similar genre.
Try again on easy mode. If it still doesn’t work, well, just because you can’t enjoy it doesn’t mean the game sucks. It’s just probably not for you.
I beat him in 6 tries but I was overleveled. I actually wish I'd thrown because I never quite mastered the feel for his deceptively delayed attacks.
After giving up for a while, I think I beat him in about an hour in total on normal difficulty.
Of most games with perfect block/dodge mechanics, I would say this one is pretty forgiving with the window.
He took me a little while to get him down but isn't that what you want from a Souls-like... a challenge? You could play it on easy if you wanted.
Aside the terrible cutscene stutters I liked what this game had to offer.
Brink block has a decent window, and his attacks don't mix up timings, so they're decently quick to get used to. It's certainly easier than LoP imo.
