Blade Phantom
I was having fun the whole time, but that boss kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Having to block 6-hit combos to make a couple of hits?
Teleporting away from the player to immediately start restoring stamina?
This is pathetic Sekiro-wannabe gameplay that doesn't fit with the rest of the demo.

I actually struggled more with Sekiro than I did with this game. The Phantom was a bit of a pain but I had an ability with the dual axe and sword that would spin to win whenever I activated it and it would shred his health and stamina! Without that specific ability I unlocked, I know the fight would've been a lot harder. I definitely understand the frustration because I had a lot of frustration when playing Sekiro. That game had a way of getting under my skin lol. Anyway, if you do want to beat the Phantom, try that ability. I believe it was the ability where you assign it to RB + X (The light attack) and Khazan would do this fury like spin slash. Hope that helps to anyone struggling!
i beat him first try with the greatsword (technecally second because i was trying to switch to it mid fight and got bodied)

i found the parry timing to be fine he just has some delayed mid combo attacks. he wasnt EASY but he wasnt too hard either, a good starter boss imo

The entire demo is about spamming parries. The Phantom is no different.
I didn't really need to Parry that much before the Phantom Blade boss. But yeah I tried beating the boss like over a dozen times yesterday, got him to the second stage a few times, but no deal after.

First thing I did was respec to Spear, since it has a longer range than dual-wield and I could hit him more from further away: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3441880524

Then I put Skillpoints into Breakdown, Endurance and a few Attack Skills like Moonlight, Shadow Cleave and Zero Point. Then I just parried his 6/3-Hit Combos trying to brink guard as much as possible and hit him with 1-2 Heavy Blows and Zero Point Combo and maybe a few Light Blows after to destroy his Stamina. After learning his patterns a bit on the second Stage I finally beat him with 2x Healing left. It was satisfying, but I'm not sure I'd call it fun and I perfectly understand why some people would Ragequit there.

What is this skill issue whining about?

That Blade Phantom boss is just a parry check because the whole game is going to be like that. Also, the parry in this game is unbelievably forgiving compared to other games in a similar genre.

Try again on easy mode. If it still doesn’t work, well, just because you can’t enjoy it doesn’t mean the game sucks. It’s just probably not for you.

I beat him in 6 tries but I was overleveled. I actually wish I'd thrown because I never quite mastered the feel for his deceptively delayed attacks.
What weapons are you all using? I found the spear really good in general, I just poked him to death.

After giving up for a while, I think I beat him in about an hour in total on normal difficulty.

Tbh, he has a bit of a learning curve, I did him with the spear with moonlight. The afterimages really help breaking his stance.
Of most games with perfect block/dodge mechanics, I would say this one is pretty forgiving with the window.
He took me a little while to get him down but isn't that what you want from a Souls-like... a challenge? You could play it on easy if you wanted.

Aside the terrible cutscene stutters I liked what this game had to offer.
skill issue
tbh, i didn't even parried for the whole demo, i just dodge and only parried when i was forced to lol. this is again a skill issue tbh.
Weird, I suck horribly at soulslikes and I beat him second try! I loved that boss with a passion, and I'm definitely picking the game up as soon as I get my taxes in the next few days!
That's strange. I could easily parry the claw combo but NOT the fists and kick. I guess my timing wasn't good enough.

Fun fact : in japanese dub, the blade phantom is voiced by Hayami Sho, aka Aizen Sosuke the GOAT
Yeah, you gotta stick to the fcker so he doesn't end up going back to catch a break.
Brink block has a decent window, and his attacks don't mix up timings, so they're decently quick to get used to. It's certainly easier than LoP imo.
