Yeah I'm hyped as well and hope the loot will be exciting enough
Definitely not expecting this to be on the level of Nioh tho
It depends what Nioh your talking about. On PC we were spoiled with BOTH Nioh 1-2 because we always got the complete editions of those games. So from my 3-5hrs with the demo I;'m expecting a BASE Nioh experience before the DLCs (like Wo Long or Strangers of Paradise PC launches), but with more polish and good performance lol (as already proven by the demo sections).
I have already fell in love with the combat in this game, so I'm not worry about not liking that aspect, its just will this be a one and done action RPG, or will it have the depth/legs to warrant multiple playthroughs with unique builds as the nioh games do.
Since it has loot I hope its highly replayable, and I'm curious that since its mission based, and the missions will have set levels like Nioh, if we will get a Nioh-like hub map with sub-missions, and if we will get a NG+ mode out of the gate to playthrough.
I'm also discouraged by the mission-based structure, making the game more rigid.
Shame, because combat seems pretty good, like a slightly jankier Lies of P. Might get the game on a sale at some point.
I don't think its fair saying that just because a game has 3 weapon types that there are only 3 builds lol. If the skill trees are intuitive enough late game, there are weapon elements (fire, ice, posion,,...etc) a single weapon type can have many different build possibilities.
In fact in I went through the demo 2-3 times and got my greatsword to play completely different from one another and that was with not even half the skill unlocked lol. One focused on parry/defensive skills, while the other was focused on more evasive skills that allowed me to stay on the offense.
I also completely disagree with the lies of P comparision. I liked that game enough for one playthrough and the demo combat alone blew that games combat feel out of the water. By mission 2 in the demo you were comboing multiple weapon skills together, while Lies of P is very basic in its builds even though it looks like it has a lot.
Which are still exceptionally barebones compared to something like Nioh, which I rate as being the best combat-centric soulslike ever. Nioh also has a ton of weapon types.
This game looks amazing and plays well. It just looks like it won't be anywhere near what it could have been.
This is my biggest issue that as far as weapons we have already experienced the core moveset for all of them in full game.
I also hope we are not showered with skill points to the point we can get everything as that would really limit build variety.
TFBK has 3.
Man the difference between a master-piece and a bog-standard game is insane.
Hm.. thats a downer..
But its ok for me. I mean in sekiro you have also only your sword for the biggest part of fights.
For me this game is a nice filler. Im not mega hyped but im looking forward to it. Hope they adjust some balance here and there.
Nah, every weapon type in the Demo played differently and in some cases the same weapon can be played differently, too.
It finally feels like a game dev takes weapon identities serious. Quite rare today.
have you already mastered and unblocked every nuance of the 3?
People are so entitled these days.
Wukong cost 60$ and the only weapon is staff... or sekiro only a katana... This kind of game is skill-based, you customize the skills to make your own moveset. no need to get hundreds of weapon but same moveset...
