If you are still not sure, fire up a game and open the skill description of Reflection. The very first word of the description says "Parry".
In addition, if you just switch the context to any FromSoft game, except Sekiro - parry is what Reflection does in this game. If you are gonna claim that everyone in Elden Ring forums says parry and mean the basic deflect - well, that's something, I guess.
And in this game, the most basic, easiest, and most used option for "deflect the attack" is a brink guard.
No reason to parry in Elden Ring in my Experience. Everything got nuked by magic:

Somehow this edgelord has gotten even more cliche. Next they gonna use an anime for reference of why they are correct. No wait, a manga panel.
This guy doesn't understand pinball.
I have completed the game some time ago and I can tell you that Reflection is optional ability unlike Counter that you really want to learn to use regularly. I tried to use Reflection early but it was simply not worth the effort--bosses were too punishing when you missed it even with the additional protection from the skill and there is no need to use it on normal monsters.
I love pinball fx3 on steam
