Difficulty so far
There is just something about the first boss that I guess I can't figure out and so far I find unnecessarily difficult. Anybody else struggle with the damage being done to him and respectively received?

Focus more on parrying him rather than dodging, that'll make him easier. Well except the grab, jump/hug? and the phase change where you have to dodge.
BTW they've nerfed him a lot compared to the closed beta.
If you are going to dodge, you want to get his back and attack there. I had a lot of success tbh, killing him the first try though was largely because I had already put time into the closed beta. With this game you're inevitably going to want to know when to dodge an enemy string to get a punish combo going from there since it deals more damage than attacking an enemy directly.

I didn't notice a huge difference between how he fought in the closed beta and how he fights in this demo. If anything, the reason it felt easier is that I wasn't playing on PS5 lmfao.

I guess parry is the key here.

And dodges too if there's big projectiles. It happened once with the yeti boss. Got very ugly when I didn't dodge the big rock throw at the right timing.

i focused on parry and being patient and dodge the grab

I;m not gloating but he was rather easy for me as I first tried him, but I also alreayd had the parry timing down (which feels really nice) and I have been playing Stranger of Paradise which has an almost identical parry mechanic.

As others have said this game rewards good reactions and utilizing all of its mechanics, so don't be scared to learn to parry.

So far from what I understand parrying is the major mechanic for defense and exhaustiveness is the point where you do your most damage... and evading is for the unblockable attacks.. Not yet done with the first boss but we ain't giving up ;-)
They already announced an i̶d̶i̶o̶ I mean easy mode
Parrying is key, I'd also recommend adding fire to your weapon for more damage

It's just weird to me, Lies of P is one of my favs and parrying is major there but gradually it was way less punishingly introduced, if that makes sense. First boss there was literally tutorial and with less movement... Here, the first boss kicks my ass like no other souls-like has ever done :D

Same and on normal mode but I’m not complaining, it was fun!

You can actually choose easy mode before starting or even change difficulty in the menu

Took me a ton of tries but I gimped myself by only dodging, no parries, and playing on KB/M. Eventually I got him.

If you explore the areas and fight the normal Yeti's you would already have most of the bosses moveset down as the parrying timing is exactly the same with many of its moves.

If I did not fight the normal Yetis I would have had much more trouble, but I was already easily parrying the normal variation before I fought the boss lol.
First phase, parry the attacks and use heavy attacks to break his posture, take advantage of the brutal attacks after doing this.

Second phase is tough, you must run from his grabs and cold breath, a lot of his attacks during this phase are not parriable.

Sorry for my english.
