No gamepad support? [Solved]
Steam are advertising 'Full controller support' on this game, but ingame there is no way for me to pick gamepad instead of keyboard. Anyone know any way to get the gamepad to work ? :ed:

Which gamepad are you using? I will try and help you. It works just fine for me.

Okay, well there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that Braid unfortunately does not accept any controller except the Xbox360 for Windows. This has to do with the game being an exclusive 360 release and for some reason they never took it out of the programming when porting it over. The good news is you could always try the Joy2Key program to map your gamepad to the game. That's great software that people use for games like Binding of Isaac and SCP-CB. It should work for any game that doesn't come with gamepad mapping.

Thank you for such a detailed answer! It works now with Joy2Key, thank you so much for the tip :)

No problem. Gaming issues are no joke. Especially one involving Braid.

Bumping is not allowed.

I'm not even sure why this would be bumped as the information isn't really that accurate. The game uses Xinput instead of Directinput. *Any* game which uses Xinput will have problems with non-Xinput controllers even if those controllers work fine with Directinput games.

Actually, the information is vastly inaccurate. As the game uses SDL2, any gamepad will work just fine now - you may need to configure it first in Steam Big Picture, but after that the game will be able to correctly recognize it and there won't be any problems with mapping.

Your inaccurate assertion is inaccurate, as Braid won't recognize my XBox One controller. So EVERYONE'S WRONG!

How can "everybody" be wrong when "everybody" is saying different things? My guess is that you are having issues peculiar to your computer.

Have you tried that and suceeded? I configured my gamepad in Steam Big Picture successfully. But the game still couldn't recognize my gamepad :(

As I said three years ago, my guess is that you are having issues peculiar to your computer.
