Braid

Very poor performance
I have a mid-to-high end system (gtx 970, 4.6GHz i7-2600K, 20GB RAM, SSD), however Braid runs poorly:

No matter what options or combination of options I pick (windowed/fullscreen, post processing, resolution and frame rate), the game runs much too slow. Even the timer in speedruns only runs at a fraction of the intended speed. For example, selecting 60fps @ 2560x1440, runs the game at about 1/3 of the original speed, while 60fps @ 1920x1080 runs at about 1/2 speed. CPU and GPU usage is overall low, so theres definitely no hardware-bottleneck.

I also tried using the command line "-60fps", which finally makes the game run at the correct speed, however it uses the wrong resolution for my 2560x1440 monitor.

maybe try installing the redestributables in the games folder (Steam\steamapps\common\braid\DirectX_Redist and Steam\steamapps\common\braid\vcredist2013)

Already running latest directx. Also, I forgot to mention, but I am on Windows 10.

doesnt matter which version you have just install both files
since youre on win10 i guess you could try running the game in compatibility mode as well

those files already installed when I first ran the game and reinstalling them again did nothing either. Compatibility mode didnt make any difference either unfortunately.

However, I just reinstalled the latest drivers (361.43) and now it seems to work fine... Very strange. I just hope the issue doesnt resurface!

I have Windows 10 with GeForce GTX760 Core i7 and no matter what configuration I choose, it will only run at 20~25FPS.

Braid had an issue running when Windows 10 came out, and it seems to me the solution chosen by the developer was to use WineD3D. which worked at the time. I also thought of using DXGL but I do not know how to configure Braid with that to work.

Currently looking for solutions.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I have the latest driver but last time I did not selected clean install. I see what can I do there.

For now, what I have tried is to download then install the driver selecting clean install, whithout uninstalling the driver beforehand. It olny worsened that way. (~15FPS)
For now, I leave it like this, because I'm going to need my PC for work, but when I have the time and currage, I'll try to completely remove the driver then reinstall it. Though I have my doubts that this would help here.

I also have an fps drop, seemingly at random moments. The game runs fine at first, then all of a sudden fps drops to like 15-20.
I try to alt-tab and get back to game. The fps resets to 60, but only for a few seconds. Then it drops again.
I didn't play the game for a long time, but it worked normally before (about a year or two ago, Win7).

I'm running Win7 64-bit.
