Louis looks like Reinhard von Lohengramm
Both are good strategists and tacticians, both joined the army at very young age, both blonde and pale white, both called Lord Reinhard or Lord Louis by subordinates, both are usurpers who want to take control of the Empire/Kingdom and are ruthless in pursuit of those goals. Reinhard is morally good tho, and protects civilians even if he is quite martial and imperialistic. I think Louis is kind of like an evil Lord Reinhard.

What do you guys think?
(Reinhard is from an anime called Legend of the Galactic Heores)

When I first saw him that's exactly what I thought. I'm not far enough into the game to make a character call yet. For now (at start) it seems like he just wants to be king at any cost and that's it.

Yes with only 5 hours played as of now I know basically nothing so far, was just my first impression of him! :D

That reference picture is empty, just saying.

The first time I saw him, in this opening movie, this was exactly what I thought. Now that I'm 20 hours in, I am yet to be proven wrong lol. If he is indeed the main villain, I will blame it on the lack of influential redheads in his environment.

He doesn't only look like, he is an expy https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Expy.

He ticks possibly all of boxes with Lohengramm in terms of personality, philosophy and looks, two notable exceptions being the setting and that Louis gets no development - because Metaphor, compared to LOTGH, is incomparably more primitive and needs a simple evil villain for the players to defeat.

So, yeah, good job noticing this parallel. It just shows the amount of effort that went into a yet another JRPG story.

I mean, makes sense, no? LOTGH follows Reinhard so naturally he's much more fleshed out. Louis doesn't get fleshed out that much because he is who he is and the protagonists oppose that. He's already an adult, a fleshed out character with a personality that has been doing it for years. Not everybody and their mom need some intricate development.

That being said, the only thing that could make him an expy is if it's intentionally modelled after Reinhard. And as long as we don't know, it's safe to assume he's not an expy.

Well, naturally, this is the intention we are talking about, unless there are documents or someone from Altus doesn't whistleblow, we can't confirm this assumption...

...however, it's a legit assumption as similarities are so close it brings to question the good-will of the developers when they were "designing" the character...

...and one pathetic, violent Pokemon copy is currently embroiled in a copyright court without any concrete evidence intentional design theft was made.

Rudolf Krause (one of the candidate side characters) is also likely based on Rudolf von Goldenbaum from LOGH as well.

Reinhard without any family or friends is truly a scary thought...
