Game can't download

Posting here to perhaps find others with the same problem to brainstorm ideas how to fix this.

Whenever I try to download the game, the download STARTS at exactly 97% (which is odd because I have no game files on my PC) and doesn't do anything. It's not downloading nor writing anything on disk. I found 2 instances of people having this problem on reddit, so it seems it is not just me.

I have tried:
Restarting steam multiple times
Restarting PC multiple times
Deleting steam download cache
Launching steam as an admin
Disabling firewall
Installing the game to different drives (Even to old HDDS)

If anyone's got any ideas how to fix this, please I'm all ears.

Got it working somehow.
I finally managed to download it into one of my old HDDS, from there I manually copied the files over to the SSD I want the game to be installed on (Steams own move feature didn't work), make sure the folder structure is correct Steam/Steamapps/common/METAPHOR, uninstalled the game from steam and then installed it on the SSD I copied the files over. Steam found the existing files and now the game works.

Ended up having to uninstall the pre-load, manually delete all of the files it didn't actually remove, clear the Steam download cache, and start the download from scratch. Delete steam download cache on the menu, exit steam, erase everything on steam's depot cache and download and try again. Damned pre download

sometimes you need some patience since unpacking depends on your disk writes and CPU.

and how do you know you don't have game files? have you go to your steam folder and check??

also clean all your caches or something, don't have this issue and not sure why you have that.

Okay so, I got it working somehow.

I found a solution that worked for me if nothing else works for others. I uninstalled steam and reinstalled it. Was then able to install the game from scratch. A bit nuclear but it worked

I found simple a fix for this that doesn't require reinstalling. Just go to the folder that contains the executable METAPHOR.exe and run it there. Good luck! ~\Steam\steamapps\common\METAPHOR
