Controller Issues

I've tried this on all the following controllers: PS5, PS4, Xbox and Switch pro.

If I have default controller settings then the game does not register any of my controllers at all, if I have steam input enabled or disabled then it registers the controller as keyboard and mouse only.

I've gone to other games I play with controller and I've messed around with basically every setting I can think of but I can't get my controller to show it's native input on these games at all, even when changing the button typing in the game settings I only get keyboard and mouse, it never switches to the controller layout.

I've noticed that when I try to open the "controller configuration" when I go into the game controller settings on my steam library that the page is just blank and not working at all when other games show me the prompt for my controllers, this is an issue I had with the demo too.

I'm seeing a lot of people playing on PC with controller working so does anyone have any hotfixes?

Getting this same issue. No controllers I plug in are being detected by the game. Very strange. Waiting for either a patch to fix, or some information from somewhere, as no-one seems to know how to solve.

Played for 9 hours and now experiencing controller device disconnected. Every time i hit ok my controller works then the pop up again. Xb or ps5 controller doesn't matter lmao

my controller is working but it shows keys on the screen as if im using a keyboard

I ended up having to disable steam input for the game, after that a plugged in xbox one controller worked fine and the on screen button prompts updated to show xbox buttons.
I noticed the same thing where controller configurations is blank. Seems like a bug

i've done it with steam input on, steam input off, steam input on w/ games that dont support it and then messing with the game steam settings too but none of the combinations seem to work. the only time the controller works is when the game recognises it as Keyboard and mouse.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Definitely seems a bug of some type where controller layout isn't displaying correctly. Quitting the game and going back in displays the controller buttons again but seems to break at some random points thus far.

This might be a reach, but it works for me:

I just updated to windows 11 and this bug started happening for me. Using a controller but would only give me keyboard prompts. It was fine when i was on win10 during the demo. So I thought it might be an issue of windows 11 doing something in the background over the game, which the game might interpret as keyboard needing priority.

Obviously I have no idea what I'm talking about, but what I tried after that line of thinking was - using Process Lasso, I went to Metaphor.exe, right click > CPU Priority > Always > High, and now it's giving me controller inputs again.

YMMV. Just what worked for me. Running the game as admin might have a similar effect, I haven't tried it. Hope this helps someone.

running steam as an admin literally fixed it for me immediately, didn't even think about that

The newest build of MetaphorFix [github.com] has a .ini setting for "Force Gamepad Icons" which fixed this issue for me entirely.

Happened to me as well. The only thing that seemed to fix it for me was disabling Steam input for the controller settings for the game.

Honestly just buy a 29.95 logitech. Never have an issue. Xbox co trolleys suck on steam

Starting steam as admin seems to always fix the problem for me
