I got stuck at 50%, I tried to delete it to try from 0 but now I lost 80 gb and it won't install, it just throws error messages.

This works for me.. do this and restart.

Close Steam & go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam/steamapps" (or wherever your steam is installed in) and delete everything in the "depotcache" folder.

DO NOT touch "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps/common

Restart Steam.

I'm stuck at 1% - this is already technically unacceptable before even starting the game?!

You sure? Because A LOT of people seem to have issues in that area (looking at Reddit) and I have never experienced this problem on Steam before.

Edit: Now I'm at 5% ... at least it's not stuck?!

If you have any reasonable download speed, it's usually faster to not bother preloading and instead just download the entire thing when a game launches.

Yeah I'm never doing preloading again and I shouldve learned after doing it for other jrpgs like star ocean divine force

If you unpack slow look at your task manager and see if it’s using all of your cores or all of your SSD. If it’s doing neither you can change steam.exe priority to real-time (from processes go to details and right click). This should saturate either your CPU cores or your SSD. With modern multi core and M2 SSD e.g. 12700k and Samsung Evo it takes less time than downloading with this method unless you have well over Gigabit speeds.

This is why I never preload.

It's a serious waste of time.

Unpacked in 4 mins for me. Totally dependent on your CPU and storage speed. On my old PC it was slow as ♥♥♥♥, but that PC had a 7 year old CPU.
