Main Character Builds
During the prologue, the choices you make at the recruitment office adjust your starting stats. They aren't that different but it's a good starting boost. I went with a magic build in the demo as I expected to use magic archetypes but I'm not convinced I made a good decision. I might just opt for a starting boost in endurance

What build are you going with?

Magic build as well.
I always try to go for pure stat focus in these types of games, so trying to major in just one attack stat might not be a bad idea.
We also know that luck doesn't really contribute much (from what we've seen in the demo) so maybe just a fine 60-20-20 ratio would be a good idea (60%main attack stat, 20 supporting stat, 20 whatever else) just to make sure that your primary focus is your damage.
Unless you want to play a support class of course, since you can't control the stat distribution of your party.

Tempted to start over the demo to do physical since mc's ult is almighty physical apparently.

I got called a degenerate then said I liked pain, then I was asked for my name and if I was illiterate. So I named myself Degenerate. I was surprised I had enough characters but wasn't sure if Degenerate had three 'e' or an 'i' or something so I had to google it and I was right!

Then I was praised for knowing how to read and that made me happy. So i'm going to go with that because I can't possibly imaging how having one more point in endurance over any other stat could possibly matter in the long run.

That would be a lot of fun but is it viable?

My first playthrough was Mag-based. I then replayed it as Str-based, then replayed it again as Mag but with better choices and missing fewer things.

I have heard that by endgame, Str is probably the better build, but I'm going Mag for my first playthrough because I just like magic.

MC seems like he has magic base stats so I am just going to build him magic with some stats in luck and agility (for dodging) I guess.

str has traditionally been better so i'm just gonna do strength again.

his base stats depend on what you answered during recruitment.

Always going with a magic build first.
and when i saw that i had Protag-Passive ability as a mage that allowed me to regenerate MP upon quick-defeat of enemies out of combat, i immediatly knew i made the right choice.
No more problems with not having enough MP in a dungeon once you have blue-difficult enemies to slaughter is just great, even thought it might take a bit.

Maybe it's going well with the Merchant Archetype? Luck involve with Crit, Aliments, Drop rate, etc.
I'm gonna play for fun, after all skill damage can increase by high ATK weapons

from what ive heard from a few people that got review copies, early on magic is better, but later on strength is way stronger. For me personally i prefer hybrid builds though, especially because the MC seems kinda like a more magic based character (starting with seeker also kinda pushes that further as they start with only magic skills) but is still competent in physical combat with their sword skills and seeker being a more balanced archetype between magic and strength as you level it more.

any build works and is possible with enough planning and investment though. but strength definitely is very strong late game
