Recommended level for Leogron - Virga Island
What is the recommended level for the Leogron bossfight in the Virga Island chapter? I'm playing my blind run in hard mode, until now it was challenging but pretty doable... but this guy is basically capable to oneshot my entire party at every turn even if everyone is in the back row, while I deal incredibly low damage despite hitting its weaknesses.

It's a level 55 boss, while my character level is 38.

I don't want to decrease the game difficulty, it feels like cheating to me. Clearly I'm not supposed to fight this monster at my current level, so what is the recommended level for this fight?

-----------------

UPDATE:
I did it! If anyone is interested, after some tests I used this setup: Seeker, Gunner, Commander and Masked Dancer.

I discarded the Magic Knight / Healer duo with Magic Guard technique because the cost of MP and turn icons was too high compared to the damage I could deal to the boss, especially whenever it used the wind technique which decreased the attack of all party.

So I decided to prioritize the attack and focus on single techniques rather than synthesis abilities.

In this scenario, Gunner and Masked Dancer were the damage dealer, Seeker was the healer / support (thanks to inherited techniques as Dekunda for dispell and Medi for healing), and Commander was the other support with Matarukaja for defence increasing.

With this setup, I was able to defeat the boss using a bit of healing items (some of that quite poweful, but I can buy them so it's not a big deal) and only a Magla Injection.

Unfortunately I had to end the battle with Masked Dancer KO when the boss was pratically dead, because I was in a situation in which trying to focus on having all party members alive could jeopardize the entire bossfight.

The tower boss?

Take that thing on after the Dragon Temple. Completion of that dungeon is what allows you to control the weather, meaning it won't be riding high off the global warming buff.

If you have Magic Knight access, you can easily just spam Magic Guard while having everyone in the back row. Go for the burn off Masked Dancer's Crimson Vortex or spam Puglist's Power Thrust for defense drops. Dekunda if you want to clear the damage debuffs, or simply try to ignore it and go for the attrition.

Seriously, Bad Weather is NEVER worth the bonus battle EXP. Run straight to the top of the tower, ignore everything but what treasure/bugs you can snatch on the way, book it and cook it. So long as you save two turns for Magic Guard's Synthesis, you will eventually bring it down. Rakunda off Faker works wonders too to help equalize things if you don't have Dekunda/Dekaja but do not walk in with Faker equipped, you'll die.

That was exactly the strategy I came up to after a few attempts. I managed to drain its HP under half, but at the current state it's an attrition warfare I can't win unless I use some powerful items that restore a large amount of MP, which I don't want to, because like every RPG that I played, I plan to use them only during the final boss fight or at least in the final part of the game.

For what I see, bad weather is the real game changing factor here. If hitting Leogron's weaknesses could give extra turns, I'm 100% sure that I could win the attrition warfare with the strategy mentioned above.

So, basically both of you are telling me that this boss it's designed to be beaten after the main quest at the Dragon Temple.

It's okay to use some of those MP items - for the last month or so of the game, you can get an item every day that restores 100MP to the whole party. As long as you keep doing that, you will definitely have more than you could realistically need.

I just tried to go full-in and use every item and resource at my disposal. After some attempts I came to the conclusion that it's simply not worth it. In this actual scenario with bad weather, the RNG component of the bossfight prevails on the player's skills. It's not enough to play every move perfectly, it only takes one moment of unlucky RNG (for example, missing an attack) to force me to stay on the defensive for too long without attacking, depleting my MPs and items without dealing any damage to the boss.

The only way to compensate bad RNG is good weather, and If after the Dragon Temple I can return to this boss in such condition, I think that's the correct way to take on this fight.

Yes, I believe if I'm lucky enough I can win even with bad weather, but like I said, to me it's not worth it.

The unfortunate part is that you might be feeling a sort of sunk cost fallacy since it takes 3 days to get out there. I doubt you have an earlier save before you made the trip, but I don't... THINK the request to defeat that boss is on a timer. In that case, I recommend putting it off for a little bit longer. There is an unlock after the third city that dramatically cuts down on travel time, so as long as you head back basically immediately after you get it, you'll be fine for time.

Though it's my first Altus RPG (never played the Persona series, sadly), I'm quite veteran of JRPG and its mechanics in general, so I know what I'm dealing with ;)

I planned to take on Junah's mission and the Leogron mission consecutively, so after completing the first mission, I made a separate save file before taking on the second mission, "just in case"... Hell, I also have a separate save file even before the first mission :D

So for me it's not a big deal to load the save file just after Junah's mission and get back to Virga Island... Yes, i will lose Hulkenberg's rank 6, some exp points and items obtained ath the Spire of Blind Faith, but losing 3 days it's far worse, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, you need to learn to deal with Bad Weather. That particular Tower and your next party member's Quest location are permanently locked to be Bad Weather at all times unless dispelled, and you only get to change the weather for 'free' a grand total of ONCE for your first demonstration of it. You're not likely to have the items required to get a second weather swap until the late-game on-hand, so you're gonna have to bite the bullet and deal with Bad Weather for one of them at least.
