Is it possible to change the difficult settings?

I changed the difficult settings to storytelling because I was in the dungeon with no mana. I couldn’t go back to the city because of the limit date, so I had to change the difficult settings. But I can’t change it again to the hard mode. I’m frustrated and I’m thinking to drop the game…

Story locks the difficulty, I think its the only one that does aside from the hardest difficulty. I don't know how far you are but you should be using mage to gain mana when you get low

Officially, choosing Storyteller locks you into that for the rest of the run. Luckily, you're playing the PC version, and there are ways around things like that. Someone went through and found which addresses in the save file hold the difficulty setting, you can change it with a hex editor. you can change it in the game's system settings under difficulty. even if you're in-game. if you picked hard, normal, easy, or storyteller at least! you can't when you picked regicide though...

Game has it's design faults. I did have the thought of like "well, what happens if i spend all my very limited potions in this dungeon?" and the answer is obvious a bricked playthrough. That is before you get mage and can get mana back
