Does it get less weaboo after awhile?
i've just got the persona for the blonde guy and wtf was that thing with him using his heart as a microphone in front of a crowd that appeared out of nowhere

"but that was supposed to be a METAPHOR"

still, too much weeb for me, i've just finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and went to play Metaphor expecting a masterpiece but... It's just another generic anime game.

I've played Persona 1 and 4, and P1 was more grounded and serious while 4 was more weeb but had some very good moments

Meanwhile Metaphor opens with a generic Griffith yapping about something after a very on the nose prejudice scene, also this game is called Metaphor but most subtext are just text, explained to you or very explicitly showed to you, oh there's prejudice in this story so let's show a very on the nose scene with this race suffering prejudice so people will know our game is very serious, like bruh

The red hair girl waited for a innocent to die trying to run so she could have a very cool and badass scene killing the bandit and saying a cliche line something like "you drew your sword you better be ready to die" like wtf was that, you could've saved everyone but you waited for the innocent peasant to die just so you could have your cool guy moment? get out of here lol

i should've played Metaphor before playing Expedition 33 i think E33 ruined most JRPGs for me... Or maybe i'm just getting old and can't deal with this type of bs storytelling from the anime medium anymore...

I mean. It is from Atlus.
Give the game a chance. In my opinion the story gets better later on

Atlus games were never my favorite. I always find their games a bit boring. Metaphor was one exception tho. I like how you can use different classes. My only complaint is that you are forced into new game + to 100% the game.

Why does a metaphor have to be subtle? You probably learned what a metaphor was with very direct and obvious examples; "she is a ray of sunshine in my life; and the like. Nothing about the term implies it can't be obvious what the metaphor is.

Open confrontation is likely to cause several injuries and deaths, especially with an Igniter in the mix; compliance is the most likely way to result in the least harm. The only reason the civilian died was because he freaked out, if they had all remained calm everyone would have lived, and she could always work on hunting them down when there wasn't innocent civilians at stake. Only once the killing started did it become likely for more to follow, and she had reason to kill them rather than just arrest them (which would have been difficult to do alone).
brother it is completely your fault for comparing metaphor to e33, playing through it right now and they arent anything alike, why are we comparing apples and tables? i loved metaphor, easily goty material for me, you just have 0 whimsy in your life
i don't know why people aren't being real with the op. it's almost an achievement, how much this plays like a season of tv anime (opposed to ova/movie).
i even jokingly thought there'd be a "beach" episode... then i hit the "beach islands" 2/3rds in, where the episode would be in an average anime season.
so yeah, it's cool that they pulled it off, but it also means it's not what the op is probably looking for in a game.

OP has all the anime games there are and then cries about Metaphor being too anime. Don't waste your time on this bait, people

Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest isn't weaboo bs, it's more palatable for westerners

i regret buying Tales games, the only Tales game that isn't weaboo is Phantasia in the SNES
I had my problems playing the game, but overall I would still reccomend playing it at full price. It's not a 10/10 like all those game urinealists gave it when it released, I wouldn't call it a 9 either, but its a solid 8 or 7.5/10 and worth a full price purchase to anyone who already enjoys RPG games.
OK, this may sound like a really dumb question, but what in the world does "weaboo" mean. I have never head of the term until this thread.
pretty sure it was a 4chan word filter for... "wapanese", i believe.
it's been a long time, whatever it was.

basically an extreme and weird anime fan, not like a normal anime fan that watches good stuff like Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist and other more "normal" anime media

weaboo is basically anything related to those generic animes with lolis, and cute girls, and bla bla bla you know like that one anime with the blonde girl and the guy that makes clothes for her, or any generic school anime with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ storytelling for teenagers and weird adults

i'm trying to think a better example with names but usually the names of those things are so generic that it's easier to remember some elements of it instead of the name of the thing

it's usually stuff called "The Time i Did Something in Somewhere With Someone", i'm not kidding there's stuff called literal this but change the somethings for other names, there's also other things with even longer titles lol

but yeah the word weaboo itself is mostly used to refer to people that like this kind of stuff, but you can use it to describe the stuff itself too

anyway search weaboo on google images and see for yourself

Ah, anime-ish...got it. OP must never have played an Atlus game, oh oh wait, he did since he's played Persona. Not sure why he'd think this game was different. You know, we have these things called reviews, and YouTube where you can decide if a game is for you before you buy it...
