just started and a couple questions have arisen
- how do i change or unlock a new archetype?
i entered akademia and was prompted to unlock an archetype for ghris.
but for the life of me i cant find that option again in or out of akademia, nor can i find how to change the currently equipped archetype.

- i did the first mine area and by the time i reached the end of it and the human boss guarding a crystal, no one except ghris (mage archetype) had any mp left so all they could do was guard or swing their weapons and do next to no damage.
i thought that resting at the doorway (magla hollow) before that battle would have replenished it, but no.
how do i replenish my mp/hp outside of using valuable items?

unlock mage archetype on your main character you can get mp through fighting stuff in overworld combat as mage. try to be careful about saving your mp and other resources, resource management is a big part of this game

Archetypes :

- BUY : Go to Akademia, talk to More, select first option (?), you have a grid with archetypes for each character. Move your stick to the one you want and look at the conditions (MAG, Bond level, other archetype level required...), pay your fee and accept again, you have now unblock an archetype (yes, unblock, not unlock).

- CHANGE : go on your equipment menu, first line allow you to choose between the archetypes you bough. Choose one and you change into it.

- UNLOCK more : bond with your friends, progress story, level up classes and you will have more archetypes on the grid.

MP/HP :

- You can't recover HP in magla hollow (as you said). Some classes will unlock healing as a skill, then you can select on the skill menu to use it outside of battle (it still use MP). Or you use potions.

- For MP, same as HP. You either use a potion to restore MP or quit the dungeon (not available for the mines) and come back the day after (full life, full MP).
The other way is to go Mage, kill the trash mobs (blue name) without entering turn battles and you gain 1 MP for the Mage only (so select Mage for all of them). It's long and tedious.

Best way is not to spend too much MP for mobs and either do simple attacks or use low MP / high efficiency attack.

thankyou

one other question

do i sell all the things with little diamond icons next to them in my inventory?
things like golden apple and broken igniters?
some of the descriptions read like they can be dismantled for scrap, but ive no idea if this game has crafting/materials/synthesis etc

yes they are all to be sold, maybe that description is left over from an earlier build or sth, there is no synthesis system like that.

Correction, this effect is a passive listed on the Main Character's version of the Mage, and no one else's. All Archtypes have a passive that only works in the overworld, and thus only exists on the MC. Thus, only the MC has to swap to mage, everyone else will also get MP regardless of their archtype.

But yeah, the idea is to not spend all your resources immediately. Focus on hitting weaknesses, not just using everything all the time. Fighting efficiently is important as you get into longer dungeons and boss fights, though items only exist to be used, so you shouldn't worry too much about using up items to get through stuff. As usual in RPGs you get much better items the further you go, so using your starting items in the early game is when they are the most effective.
