Yeah no, that's not how the game works.
The mechanics are designed around exploiting enemy weaknesses to deal more damage and gain extra turns. This has been a core feature since SMT series. You discover an enemy’s weakness within the first minute of battle, so there’s really no reason to handicap yourself by avoiding it.
Toughing it out means you're ignoring what the game encourages and unnecessarily dragging out a battle that you could finish five times faster with way less frustration
dont get hit in overworld to avoid getting into battle at a disadvantage, and if you do get it, just get yourself killed, restart game or battle anyway/escape after taking the initial damage.
Thanks for trying to help, but I think you misunderstood the whole point of my post.
What I’m asking is whether there’s a way to quickly reset the game instead of having to quit entirely, wait for my whole team to be wiped, and so on.
This has nothing to do with overworld battles. The issue is that the game has multiple forced fights or boss encounters, your team setup might not be suitable for them. Going blindly into a boss fight with the wrong archetypes is just a waste of time. That’s why I’m asking if there’s a quicker reset option.
Your first suggestion—don’t get hit in the overworld—doesn’t address the question at all and isn't applicable.
And your second suggestion—just get yourself killed or restart the game, escape the battle—misses the point of why I’m asking for a quick reset.
Oh yeah, this is a Ps3 game at heart
