Game of the year

IGN named Metaphor: R game of the Year 2024. I mean, it is a good game, but I am not sure. Maybe it is the safest choice? There have been so much drama with recent gaming world. What do you guys think of Meta: R winning the Game of 2024?

I hate anime, I think that Persona games are cringe af and I generally avoid anime games like the plague. That being said, I was convinced to try Metaphor and yes, even I will agree that this is by far the best game that I've played in 2024.

Does that mean that 2024 was pretty weak for PC games in general? I don't think so. Flat out honestly I can't, from the top of my head, come up with any other game that really stood out for me.

(Note: I don't play any console games and I don't consider DLCs viable candidates for ''game of the year'' award)

It is a choice by default mainly.

In a lot of years, this game doesn't win. It's a good, but not great game.

It winning GOTY is more an indictment of this year's games than praise for what, for me at least and of course YMMV for other people, is a solid "B" grade game.

but a single player game.
meets game of thrones.
one of the best games to come out this year.

OMG, mabinogi, what a blast from the past. They've done a lot of cool things over the years that keep tempting me back like a siren. I'm probably going to wait though, because I heard they've officially announced they were finally going to change/update the engine or whatever. After literal decades lol.

I love this game so far. its my personal game of the year. but def wukong coulda got in my opinion. however metaphor won rpg of the year at the awards, narative, and art direction, and i feel it deserved every single one
