An Atlus staple since Nocturne~!
even worse Metaphor:ReFantaziobarion might be re-release version of Metaphor:ReFantazio
Atlus loves to do re-releasing their previous game and added a new cute heroine just like Blunette said
Dunno it doesnt seem to sell that much, yes it did get over 1m in short time compare to other persona, But after that it strangely quiet. They don't even announce 2million copy milestone so probably mean not that point yet.
Consider it release both ps5 and PC just little over 1M for AAA seem a abit low especially almost half a year pass now for this game.
Being a single player RPG sort of puts a bit of a limit on game sales when everything's trying to be the next time-cruncher of a multiplayer shooter or something.
Atlus claimed they were done with the stand-alone enhanced re-releases after SMT5. Their plan going forward is to allow owners of the original release to purchase any new content as a DLC, rather than needing to re-buy the whole game again.
If what you say is true then that is very good news... or very bad news. Ah, and people complain about their boring lives?
Finally something fresh mixed in the age old formula :D
But Metaphor is still a rather new game, so don't get your hopes up in the next 5-10 years. Sales also matter a lot like the others already wrote.
Do you have a good resource for where you got this info? I'm curious and would like to learn more.
The stuff linking Metaphor to Etrian Odyssey is the Mustari's island being renamed to Eht Ria and the ruins of Shinjuku appearing nearly identically in Etrian as they do here.
Pretty much what Grev wrote. I can eleborate a bit further if you want to read about it. Have you already cleared the dragon temple? If so, then read on:
- After saving Virga Island, Eupha renames the island to Eht Ria (like in Etrian Odyssey). Edeni also described the island previously as being "in the world tree's embrace". Yggdrasil's maze was a term used in Etrian Odyssey 1 to describe the world tree underneath the island, the dungeon you have to explore in EO1.
- Vendors/Shop names on Eht Ria are partially identical in both games (Shilleka's Weaponry/Goods, Golden Deer Hearth/Pub) and the consumable item Ariadne Thread
can be bought in both games and has the same function
- The lowest part of the dragon temple in Metaphor with the post-apocalyptic Japanese architecture of Shinjuku is pretty much the final dungeon of EO1. If you want to, google search "Etrian Odyssey B21F map" and you will instantly recognize it. The soundtrack in that area also got modernized in Metaphor. You can listen to the original track from EO1 to compare the two
- the character Raquna Sheldon of EOU: The Millennium Girl (EO1 remake) comes from the city "Ontario", a post-apocalyptic version of today's Ontario in Kanada. There's "Montario" in Metaphor, which might refer to the same place (just my theory). But I haven't played EOU, only EO1, so I don't know if there are more similar sounding places.
That's where the connections end. Like I said, Metaphor is a very disconnected prequel to EO1 because the games are beside a few shared locations way too different. Only the island Eht Ria connects the games.
I think it's a bit of a stretch to say it's confirmation of it being a prequel, as you say, the whole of Virga Island is a massive callback to Etrian Odyssey, that's true, but we also have archetypes called "Persona Master" and "Devil Summoner"
I think it's more likely that Atlus just added a lot of references to their other franchises.
