After playing the demo
There are things that a like about this game, the combat, atmosphere, voiced mc(finally!), and the story has me wanting to learn more.

But coming from persona 3, 4 & 5 and other jrpgs I can't but help to feel a bit overwhelmed, maybe even a little anxiety, the feeling stems from missing out. This game seems to give you a lot of options, but I'm afraid to mess something up, like the character build for example. Everything is relatively new and the game gives me the option to build characters in certain way. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing it, as I love it when games do that bit I'm just afraid to mess up, and the same thing goes for deciding how to spend time.

Should I just bite the bullet and look at guides, or does anyone have any tips/advice for me?

Can confirm, coming from Persona I tried to maximize my time since I wasn't planning on doing NG+ (no guide though). Did every dungeon in one day, paid attention to what activities gave the most social stat points, that sort of thing. I get near the end, and I have 2-3 weeks left that I had to bumble around doing whatever because I had finished every quest, every bond, every optional activity. Lots of extra free time.

As for the character build thing, everyone can can change archtypes at any time (and are expected to to adapt to different circumstances), so there isn't much of a "build" to get stuck into.

there isn't much you can mess up, even the MC stats you choose to level dont matter that much because you get most of your stats from archetypes. you can just keep your party members on the archetype lineage they start out with and make them inherit some skills that could be useful from other archetypes.

What about where I should spend time?

it is super fine, I had like 15 days left in the end and finished everything, maxed everything out. No guide.

It is the most forgiving "persona-like" ever.

Yeah, that seems to be a trend. People assuming it will be a carbon copy of Personal and all the rules that applied to that series will wok in this game. Of course, some will. However, not all.
