Metaphor: ReFantazio Antialiasing Fix mod preview (TAA) [with Reshade + Motion Vendors]
Metaphor: ReFantazio TAA PC mod (WIP) - Temporal Anti Aliasing Mod [with Reshade + Motion Vendors]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j7q5G42GDA

UPDATE! Partial UI FIX FOR STEAM DECK, 1080p/1440p/4k resolution!!

https://greatondeck.net/metaphor-refantazio-taa-mod-antialiasing-fix-for-pc-and-steam-deck/

In the video you will find the game in 4K with 100/125%/150% scaling on RTX 4080 (150% is overkill) and with MetaphorFix mod - draw distance at extra 25%, blur and outlines disabled. Due to the fact that it is not a native implementation menu has a slight ghosting, the performance hit is about an additional 10-15% (at least in my case).

Tell me what you think.

Can I download this yet?
So, question: I am using this at 4K with 1.78 DLDSR. Gives me around 60-80 FPS. It looks quite fine but I was wondering something. Since the UI fixes are resolution specific, I am assuming they are using masking. DLDSR would not cause issues as it is simply downscaling to 4K at the end of the day right?

Probably. You can try rescale UIMask.png from textures folder to 1440p and it should work just fine - I'm mostly tweaking it right now, so I will stay with 4K

Wish you would explain a little better how to install the mod. You mention "my metaphor.ini looks like this", but there is no metaphor.ini, only a metaphorfix.ini (after installing metaphorFix then glancing at the contents of the reshade folder/files). There's a metaphorfix.ini that looks very similar to your "metaphor.ini" but i guess the newer version(?) of metaphorfix has a lot more in it than what you have in yours. Or did you just delete the other sections (like the aspect ratio settings).

Are we supposed to rename the metaphorfix.ini to metaphor.ini? If we aren't using an ultrawide monitor can we just skip that section (or directly copy the contents of your "metaphor.ini")? Or do some of those tweaks still apply, like "[Fix FOV]" and "[Fix HUD]"?
No, it was my mistake - I was thinking about metaphorfix.ini.
Don't delete anything in this - I've only write about my recommended settings.

4K preset will work great.

Will the 1440p Alternative update 3 work on 3440x1440 ultrawide?
I don't have ultrawide - if HUD is the same as 1440p - it should work with 1440p preset.

metaphorfix is a completely different mod than this. this OP suggests using it for various reasons and that part of the mod description is giving context to which settings they are using to achieve the results they have.

its not necessary.

scroll down and you will find the link for the AA mods various different versions (sadly only 4k stuff atm really which sucks because less than 1% of people use 4k)

the instructions are very clear. its literally just a drag and drop into the game files. for BOTH mods. lol.
There is 1080p/1440p/4K and Steam Deck (800p) preset with UI fixes.

I understand metaphorfix is a different mod. I was just referring to the fact that he mentions a "metaphor.ini" on the linked page, which does not exist (for me, at least). I chalked it up to a mistype and assumed they meant metaphorfix.ini (again, even though these are 2 separate "mods", the instructions are to use metaphorfix first and they go on to link their "metaphor.ini", which is actually metaphorfix.ini so it could be a little confusing at first).

On the linked page there are no instructions as to where you copy the TAA mod files upon extracting. Maybe if you are experienced using reshade it's a no brainer, and either way I just assumed (again) that it would be extracted to the same default game folder. Just saying it may help some people to mention that somewhere (did I miss it?) to avoid confusion.

EDIT: "lol"

Thanks for the responses! Yea, I just assumed that. I don't have much experience with reshade, etc., but I just dropped everything right in the default directory and it worked. Game looks fantastic with your settings (seems about perfect for my 4070 Super @60fps max settings 4k)

My only problem with the game at this point (I'm playing the demo) is that, for whatever reason, the sound is really screwed up. I use equalization settings with my realtek driver and that's just how I listen to everything coming from my PC. This game seems to ignore the EQ but also the sound is REALLLLLLY low. I have to turn it up to almost 300% where I would normally have the volume for any other game/video/etc. I literally just started playing, though, so maybe there's info out there regarding this.
Thanks it works great.

Yesterday I sat up late and fiddled with the ghosting fix, shared a few test versions, rearranged the post construction and it got messy. I cleaned it up a bit to make things clearer.

In the original version there was info about the MetaphorFIX with the settings I recommend, then installation instructions and links to the mod. The instructions landed lower under updates, which didn't make sense - of course I corrected that, hopefully it will be clearer for others.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

At this point I have no idea what else to improve, and finally I'm just starting to play - it already suits me as it is ;).

Yes, I see it mentions "just extract to the game's folder" in the paragraph that starts with "Additionally, I've prepared a preset for the Steam Deck....". I stopped reading that paragraph since I figured from then on it was talking about steam deck instructions. My fault, heh.

Like I said, I just started playing but the game looks MUCH nicer on my PC than it does on my brother's Xbox Seriex X. The amount of aliasing was so bad it looked like it HAD to be intentional (why? I don't know...). Game looks really really nice with the mod and your recommended settings on PC - so thanks!

btw, I'm using Alternate Preset 2 (4k)

Thanks man this works. Finally it doesn't look like a PS3 game anymore.

Here I suggest a compromise – I’ve checked other options for hiding the HUD (e.g. REST), which look great, but the game crashes every now and then.

so does the latest update fix most of the ghosting but causes crashes?
Kimul 2024年10月12日 9時19分
No, REST fixes HUD totally, but introduces crashing.

In Alternative 3 version there is a slight ghosting in top parts of the screen when dialogues apears, but most of other parts are fixed. I can't do anything about it, because simply the central part of the screen would not have AA. I chose the lesser of two evils.

English is not my native language, so sometimes I may write something incorrectly or change the meaning of my thoughts.

This looks awesome. Having some trouble getting it to work on steam deck - game crashes aftera white screen. Will try poking around for a fix but as of now a bit of a shot in the dark. Any ideas would be appreciated!
