Persona 3 reload over this ?

I have never played Persona 3, but I hear Metaphor "might be the best from Atlus".
So, could play both eventually, but what do you think ?

personally i didnt like reload that much as a longtime p3 fan, removes alot of the mechanics and identity that drew me to it over other entries in the series. if you like persona 5 it will be enjoyable enough though.

metaphor is a mishmash of alot of atlus games, time managment from persona, press turn from nocturne, character driven story and gameplay like digital devil saga, formations remind me alot of oldschool megaten

if you like mainline smt youll probably like metaphor, its a much more refreshing style of game

They're two different genres with the same systems (combat, etc).
Metaphor is medieval fantasy. Persona is modern setting JRPG.
I'd choose what you prefer in terms of setting and story.
Do you prefer a fantasy epic, or do you prefer an edgy higschool drama?
Also, consider Persona 5.

For someone just delving into Atlus rpgs Metaphor might be a decent point to start with as it's new IP. Combat is fairly similiar to persona 3-5 with biggest additions being formations and "press turn" combat from mainline SMT games.

...so starting with this title you can branch out to other Atlus games based on what aspects of this game you liked.

You can always play Metaphor's demo or refund in 2h window.
Still I think demo would be the best since it can be finished in 5-15h so it should give you solid first impressions.

P3R will go on sales sooner as it's been out for longer, and is a remake of a PS2 game, if that is something you would want to consider.
