It does cause performance issues in games though as it runs alot of realtime checks, not internet ones, but ones to make sure the game files don't get tampered or injected with outside code etc, its also why its so hard to crack denuvo, because it does these checks so often sometimes every second if not several times a second. Its also why it has a performance hit usually, in this game you'd prob not notice it much as the graphics aren't very high end and that is fine, I prefer good gameplay over pretty graphics.
I dislike denuvo because its another starforce/secu-rom, once the denuvo servers go down and it will happen, you will not be able to play a game you've bought that has it anymore. The only hope is that the devs will remove it before that time, But there are some games that are years old that still have denuvo and prob won't ever have it removed.
IMO Denuvo should be removed from the games after 2-3 months, as by then its served it purpose, the main purpose is to protect it during the first month or so when the majority of sales happen. By 2-3 months in, sales will be a trickle and its pretty safe then to remove it.
I however, won't buy a game that has denuvo if I am unsure if I will like it or not. Usually is no way to try it especially depending on the game type as its going to take more than 2 hours to determine if I'd like say Metaphor here. Its supposedly a 100+ hour Jrpg its prob going to take 5+ hours before I can really form a opinion on it. While I could buy it right now, I have decided to wait a bit, besides I got lots of other games I can play still, so I am not in a rush. The reviews look promising if a bit suspicious how many of them gave perfect scores, its a few too many to be taken legit, especially with some of the issues users on here have pointed out, I cannot see how it got so many perfect scores without some shadyness going on behind the scenes like bribes, and promising access for giving a higher score.
So far there are only 2 future games I plan to buy with or without denuvo, both come out in January, they are both remake/remasters too. Freedom Wars Remaster on Jan 9th I believe, and Tales of Graces F remaster on Jan 25th. I will most likely preorder these 2 games denuvo or not, as I loved the orignals and they are a very safe buy for me. A friend is also going to buy freedom wars so we can co-op together, so they actually got 2 sales from me, as I got him intersted in the game by talking about it as I bought the orignal on ps vita.
i do agree with you , i do own few denuvo games for example Yakuza infinite wealth , what i dont like its the performance we get on older pc's because of denuvo.
lets say for example you play arround 60-50fps , as soon your session is 1h+ it starts to get worse , but you can also play other games that doesnt have denuvo and better graphics at 90-120fps so you can see how bad denuvo is for the customer.
DBZ kakarot i can run it at 144fps ( uncaped ) 100% render maxed out with more boosted graphics in the ini file , looking better than metaphor demo at 100% render at 60 with dips under 35s in the city...
as soon i put 150% render on DBZ kakarot it still runs at 80-110fps with faster animation and running or flying , so it renders better and also looks better , but its also a 2+ years older game...
i played judgement below 60fps at launch , they removed it and magic 60-80fps , but hey '' denuvo doesnt affect on performance '' yes it does and alot , specially making the games stutter crazy.
i think as a customer point we need the devs or companies to remove that thing after 3-5months , because some of us could play the games correctly at 60+ FPS without any problem but because of that its imposible and even ppl with new set ups having stutter or crashes or fps dips from 100 to 50s so i wonder what is it , ultra bad optimization ? or just the DRM doing that as we seen allready for more than 5 years?.
yet ppl still defend companies or devs , like they gonna save them from bankrupt or something lmao , as a customer you need to care on owning what you paid for and the best option of that product , consoles sometimes have ''next gen'' versions on PS5 that on PC are old gen like NBA 2K games , yet ppl still drop 70$ with that scam...
Does anyone know if even the demo contains Denuvo?
remember the 70's slogans, about audio cassettes and cartridge and how making copies was going to kill the industry.... 40 years later industry is bigger, richer than ever. Go ahead wiki the anti.piracy slogans, ads, campaigns etc. truth is that is just a boogeyman, Baldurs Gate, Cyberpunk, the witcher saga, palworld etc has proven that there's no such thing as "killing the industry".
Every Persona game on Steam still has Denuvo. Every Total War game since I don't even know when has Denuvo. I think most of the Yakuza games have it. I'd love to buy SEGA games but not with the Denuvo malware attached.
No one remembers the 70s, Captain Crunch.
It did kill the industry. Why do you think the movie and music industry compromise of like 3 giant publishers and no one else? lol
Because that's the way that every industry ends up? Nobody is pirating cars but the US still has the big 3. There's 3 big digital distribution platforms for PC. Everything does this. Every newspaper in the country is owned by 3 companies now. This is how life works.
I have a PS4 but I really would like to play this on my Deck. I am tired of these anti-consumer practices from SEGA and other publishers. Why should I be treated like a criminal and punished for a crime I don't even know anything about?
The sad part was, he began making excuses for the game that he couldn't even play because he loves the franchise so much. I see this behavior often.
