KB+M vs Controller and Framerate question.
Disclaimer: I am going to start playing tonight. I also know there could be some optimization issues, a special K patch, localization opinions, etc; but in theory my PC should run this thing like it's nothing. I will look into fixes if the need arises, so I'm not asking about poor optimization, which is different to "optimized for specific settings".

I recently played a little bit of FFX over at my friend's who does not have a controller. I was surprised by how natural it felt to just go KBM that it made want to play this game that way. But I also know that there is a slight "action" aspect to combat or engaging an enemy. How well does this game handle that with KBM?

I also launched the game to get the settings over with. There are some RPGs that are made to be played at specific framerates. I just set everything to my monitor's (G-sync enabled) refresh rate. Is that fine or is 60 fps the way Atlus intended the game to be played?

I can only talk about my performance experience, I play with a controller
On my 5 year old pc the game runs well , I have an Rtx 2070 super,Ryzen 5600x, 16 gb DDR 4 win 10, 1080p 144hz monitor, max graphics with 150% rendering and I blocked the fps 60 for me 60 fps is min and this game is not super action or Path of exile where I like 100+ fps

The Special K mod is good , with it I get 100+ fps all max graphics at 150% rendering but for me I would play a bit and then it would crash, so I'm not using it and sticking to 60 fps
Only thing that I've noticed a lot from people that have low fps like 20fps is that the game uses the igpu , so if you have an igpu switch to the dedicated gpu , my cpu does not have one so for me it's fine out of the box

Ah yeah I'm forcing AA in the Nvidia control panel, the game looks better with it

I play 4k 144hz. The game supports natively I think even higher refresh rates and you should have zero problems about that. Optimization for the graphics you see, at everything maxed but render resolution to 100% and I get 144-110 frames on RTX3090.
Not great. But it is fully acceptable, only sad for people with lesser gear, as the graphics are really nothing to look at.

Also I hate the motion blur-like effect that appears when you are sprinting (makes everything blurry when you run fast). I will look for a way to disable it.

Ok, I found this helps:

I'll say that I haven't really gotten to the gameplay yet since I haven't had time to really play the demo so I can't speak for the M+K controls for combat, but they seem fine although the camera sensitivity feels a little weird to me. It's mostly fine after cranking up the camera and mouse speed all the way but I think I'm just going to use a controller. If the camera doesn't bother you then it's probably fine, the game doesn't seem incredibly action heavy even if there is action, but there's a lot of random keys for certain menus or actions and if you're not used to K+M it might seem more cumbersome than using a controller, but that might just be more on my own part because I mostly use a controller for these types of games.

ATLUS games are completely fine with high framerates. Some of the menu animations are capped at 60 but you can disable the cap with the metaphor fix on github linked on the post above.

Hmm... While I mostly play at home. I do play on my laptop at the office from time to time. I'll make sure igpu autoswitch is off and running from gpu when I play at the office.

While I originally said I didn't want any info on patches, I very rarely like Motion Blur as developers set it, so I turn it off. Definitely saving the link. Thank you.

Exactly what I wanted to know about intuitive keybinding vs random. I'll try KB but if you are even half right about menus being cumbersome to access, I'll switch.

I have an issue with mouse control with this game where if your mouse polling goes above 1000Hz it feels like having negative acceleration.

I haven't noticed that. But than again I do not play with polling mid-gameplay.

I don't either, my mouse is set at 4000Hz by default, if I want to play this game with a mouse I have to lower it to 1000Hz.

im using KB+M and its good there is no delay or anything problematic, when in action you will use right click or keybind to attack and space to dodge ( i bind space as dodge ) you can bind pretty much everything in the game with your mouse and keyboard too. As for fps i use 60 fps so im not sure but other ppl use higher refresh rate.

I realized that I can only set my FPS up to 120. If I try to set higher, the mouse camera movement became stutter.

Everything is rebindable. Someone mentioned that the default binding for the Overworld Attack is RMB but I rebound it to LMB as soon as I saw that. Beyond that the main issue I have is sometimes I mentally swap the buttons for Basic Attacks and Archetype Skill (F and E respectively) but majority of the time it is a non-issue. (and it may partially be because of how my binds in Honkai Star Rail is set up)
