Testing the Luck Stat w/ Cheat Engine
I'd played a few hours of the demo, and I've mostly pumped points into luck, with a bit of MAG - with the assumption that luck might also increase crit. chance.

While I was hitting the occasional crit, at about 13 LCK I was starting to feeling like I would have been better off just pumping those same points into literally any other stat.

So, this morning I set-up a test:

I would 'attack' 100 times with MC at my current luck stat (13) then do it again with my LCK set to 99 (using Cheat Engine). My findings were:

Test 1 - Basic MC
Luck = 13
Crits = 4 out of 100 (4%)

Test# 2 - Lucky MC
Luck = 99
Crits = 12 out of 100 (12%)

It seems like luck has an impact on crit rate, but maybe not enough to make a Luck build worth it. In a game where the goal is to kill enemies as quickly as possible, maxing Strength or Magic would be much more valuable.

Regarding Item Drop Rates: To speed the process up I used the 'reset battle' function after every hit, so I've not idea how the increased luck actually impacts drop rates. I might be tempted to test that later.

Happy to answer any questions, hope this helps anyone else that was wondering.

Good thing I started pumping points into MAG and AGI instead on my demo save.
Too late. I'm already all in on Luck, baby.
Can you give a link to the cheat engine table and what is included in it? Can't seem to find it.
Luckchads, hold fast. Our time is coming.
I'm thinking there's definitely going to be a notsona that scales with luck and has high crit rate moves that will likely be boosted multiplicatively with luck, as well as status applications.
Considering that it scales so low, and you need 70-99 to even see some clear effects, I don't see the point investing in luck when you have a loss in damage or other effects with something that's like a slow burn in benefits.

Not sure I can post the direct link, but it's a very easy Google search. The table I used was made by 'schutzdev'
To be fair when you hover over Luck it says it increases 'item drop rates etc.'
Sounds like crit chances are just a byproduct; although those statistics look pretty bad. :/

Nothing like SMT where rolling with ~250 luck pretty much ensures every single attack or chain in a multi attack will be a crit anymore.. :P
Sounds like some Bloody Glee/Apt Pupil type skills (Or effects on gear?) might be more vital in this game rather than just pumping a stat.
It might also affect status ailment hit chance? Or perhaps the ability for enemies to get a start if they hit us first.

There's probably no pincer ambush attacks in the game either (idk).
since this game has press turn, physical always the best option, second one is magic
if only magic can crit naturally, usually in atlus game magic can't crit naturally
So if this was 100 normal melee attacks against a similar leveled target then tell me as the control how much does 100 strength get me in damage?

Also luck is fun because of the diversity of the stat in all the SMT games and spinoffs it normally effects Crit, Drops/money, Status effects incoming and outgoing success.

They already in the demo introduced a wild status effect on incoming crits that could silence and give free attacks on hit. On hard which I intend to play that just a free kill. I feel like I want a guy in my party that just never gets that status effect and luck is that answer.
What about the most important part of luck. The item drop rate?
Tried capped luck for item drop rates to test it out. Doesn't effect fast battle drop rates at all. Seems to affect squad rates by a good amount. I will note my non cheated luck run of prologue i also dodged a fair bit more then my initial magic mc build run by a fair amount. Could of just been rng thou. But ya i dodged like 4 attacks vs not dodging any as a magic MC. Dunno if there's a lucky dodge based mechanic in this game. I know AG is suppose to be dodge rate but ya just noting my findings on here. I will say that this is a demo version of the game and maybe the full release version may have luck effect fast battle drop rates by some margin. I never had merchant unlocked either and that gives a extra 20% to item drop rates as well i think.

Sorry, I played enough to want to pre-order the game, so I've deleted the demo. Just going off other Atlus titles, I strongly suspect a max STR (or MAG) stat would have a drastically different impact on damage. I'm happy to test it further when the game releases.

I'm really curious about how luck impacts status effects as well. I honestly figured AGL would be determine whether you dodge ailments, but maybe luck impacts your time to recover?

I'd bet luck does increase your chance to cause status ailments. It's something I wanted to test, but I didn't have enough options to cause ailments for as far as I got in the demo.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing that! I'm definitely not patient enough to do a sample of battles to record drop rates. During the demo (and in Atlus games in general) I've never really found money to be enough of a concern to warrant putting stat-points into it. lol
