Different genres? We're talking about turn-based combat. They're exactly the same genre at they're core. BG3 and others don't waste your time with frivolous/repetitive battles. With Metaphor, I got bored of fighting the same two enemies without giving much thought and I know for a fact 99% of battles will be exactly like that in the main game. WE're talking 30-50 hours of that - with only boss battles really testing your wit (somewhat). It's lazy game design and people praise it because "oooh so stylish. "
I had fun when I was younger but I just don't have the patience to get through pointless battles just to get to an interesting boss.
The game didn't even let me play on the hardest difficulty mode which was a slap on the face. Archaic game design.
im well aware of that, especially since xenoblade (a real time combat jrpg series) is currently my favourite jrpg series, i guess i should’ve specified i meant turn based jrpgs specifically when i said „people who dont like jrpgs”

On top of the archetype system, the fact that some accessories give you access to additional magic/abilities is a huge boost for build diversity and strategy. I love that this game feels like a combination of SMT's adult themes with Persona's time management and social systems. Also the change to how hard mode works in this compared to SMT and Persona is so refreshing. Giving the enemy an additional press turn in hard mode is so much better than just making them hit harder.
Anything pre ff13 you'll probably hate, too.
You're probably into those "pew pew pew" *respawn* "pew pew pew" games?
Is this some slackjaw attempt at a diss?
No thanks. I avoid button mashers. This game is more or less that for 99% of battles you just have to choose a different button now and again.
You clearly don't like these kind of games. Why somehow think a company known for them will not make the thing they're known for lol? This game's devs are LITERALLY the persona pillars.
Sounds more like a problem with you than anything else.
Yeah? Do tell. What (J)RPGs do you not consider button mashers that you don't just choose a different button now and then, lmao?
Know what I'm sayin'.
