and if you don't like turn based rpg, ok. But I don't like warhammer and you won't see me in their game complaining of why I don't like them.
your best defense of the game is "nobody is forcing u 2 play" lol
I'm making a point describing how disappointingly similar the game is to persona series. Expected something new and innovative. I've basically played this game before way too many times when it comes to its combat. Hence BORING.
You even unlock your persona in the demo. How original.
Interesting characters story isn't enough for me to experience the same cookie-cutter battle system for 75% of the gameplay time.
Or was I just super lucky with everything but Mot?
metaphor actually has more similarities with mainline megami tensei games since its battle system is built around press turn with a few mechanics from other entries sprinkled in (i.e: formations from the famicom/super famicon games, and a fusion spell style mechanic similar in execution to persona 2)
and this is all ignoring the realtime combat that transitions into turn based combat in a way ive never seen before
if gaining extra turns from exploiting weaknesses alone is enough to make it a rehash to you, can i suggest a different genre?
Have you considered that maybe you just don't like JRPGs? What's an example of a JRPG combat system that you do like?
What's here is good for what it is. If you mostly played persona then this being your first introduction to "press turn system" is quite refreshing. For persona fans this press turn system will be the biggest change.
Tbh prefer this than going in FF XVI's direction of completly abandoning RPG elemts.
Western RPGs have developed much better while JRPGs are still rigid and unchanged. No use of environments, positional advantage, terrain, etc etc. Same old grind fest where 99% of battles are easy and repetitive with only bosses that basically test your stats and saved items, rather than your ability to strategise.
